Key responsibilities
The work model for the role is: #LI-Hybrid
You will be mainly accountable for:

Understanding fundamental working principle of different low and medium voltage protection devices and function of electromagnetic actuator in each product.

Developing system-level simulation models that couple finite element analysis (FEA), control and power electronics as well as mechanical loads.

Conducting magnetostatic, transient and sensitivity analysis of the selected actuator(s) and summarizing key findings.

Collaborating closely with experienced engineers and researchers to evaluate findings and derive recommendations.

Documentation of the work and presentation to different ABB stakeholders.
Qualifications for the role

You are currently enrolled in a Master's program in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related technical field.

You have solid theoretical background in electromagnetics and electrical machines. Familiarity with limited-stroke actuators or magnetic materials is desirable.

You have experience with electromagnetic simulation tools such as ANSYS Maxwell, COMSOL Multiphysics or FEMM.

You have strong analytical skills and ability to conduct systematic literature and patent research.

You are interested in sustainable technologies and alternative design approaches for electromagnetic devices.

You bring hands-on experience with test setups involving electrical machines or actuators.

Proficiency in English with the ability to convey technical findings effectively in reports and presentations.
