A Snapshot of Your Day
As a development engineer at Siemens Energy, you will analyze and optimize modulation algorithms for power converters of the future to enable the energy transition and integrate more renewable energy into electrical grids.
You will abstract core challenges as well as hardware and software limitations for modulation. Together with a team of experts, you will shape continuous development as part of R&D and customer projects. You will investigate, implement and test solutions for these challenges and be able to efficiently program algorithms for real-time systems (DSP, SIMD, FPGA, AI engines).
How You’ll Make an Impact
-
Independently analyze non-PWM-based modulation concepts of self-commutated multilevel converters and understand the interaction with the control and design of the converter in own laboratory setups
-
Support the development of novel modulation algorithms to drive modular multilevel converters, DC choppers and solid state breakers.
-
Creating models for self-controlled multilevel converters in HVDC (high voltage direct current transmission), including interaction with controller design, test design, performing studies and documenting results
-
Understand the need for a modular model and object-oriented testing architecture for flexible and agile development to achieve high development speed.
-
Extend and design an automated, class-based test environment for functional testing of modules (Matlab/Simulink, OPAL, RTDS, test driven design)
-
Provide technical support to internal business partners (engineering, product manager, sales, etc.)
What You Bring
-
Successfully completed university studies in the field of electrical engineering with a standard duration of more than 4 years and relevant professional experience in the field of power converter technology
-
Sound knowledge of large object-oriented software projects and hardware-related programming (DSP, ARM, FPGA, AI engines)
-
Expertise in automatic code generation with Matlab/Simulink for target systems (DSP, ARM, FPGA, AI engines) and execution on real-time systems as well as extensive simulations
-
Knowledge of power electronics, energy technology, modulation and control of power converters
-
Business fluent communication skills in German and English or are willing to further develop their language skills
-
Structured way of working, initiative, creativity, teamwork, communication skills, motivation, enthusiasm and quality orientation round off your profile
