Your Responsibilities

Key Activities & Responsibilities:

Financial Accounting

Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close.
Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and balance sheet accounts.
Ensure compliance with German GAAP and IFRS (where applicable).
Assist with statutory financial statements and external audits.
Support accounting process improvements and internal controls.
Collaborate closely with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Treasury, and General

Ledger teams and Business partners of each University.

Controlling & Financial Analysis

Support the annual budgeting and forecasting process.
Prepare monthly management reports and financial analyses.
Perform actual vs. budget and forecast variance analyses.
Monitor departmental costs and financial performance.
Develop financial models and ad hoc analyses to support management decisions.
Assist in KPI reporting and performance monitoring.
Support business cases and investment analyses

Business Partnering

Work with department managers to understand financial performance.
Provide financial insights and recommendations to support decision-making.
Assist with cost optimization initiatives and financial planning activities.

Continuous Improvement

Identify opportunities to improve finance processes and reporting.
Support finance transformation initiatives and system enhancements.
Contribute to the development of standardized reporting and documentation

Your profile

Education

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.

Experience

1–3 years of experience in external audit with a recognized audit firm (preferred).
Experience in financial accounting and financial reporting.
Exposure to budgeting, forecasting, or controlling is an advantage.
Experience in an international environment is desirable.

Technical Skills

Strong understanding of accounting principles.
Knowledge of German GAAP (HGB). Knowledge of IFRS is an advantage.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Experience with ERP systems (e.g. Unit 4, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) is an advantage.
Experience with Power BI or similar reporting tools is a plus.

Languages

Good working proficiency, both written and spoken, to collaborate in an international environment.
Good working proficiency is preferred
