We build software that turns a customer conversation into a finished house floor plan. A prospective homeowner describes their dream house in plain language, our software generates a floor plan that complies with German building code and the local zoning plan, and exports it as a CAD file. Our customers are prefabricated-house manufacturers.
Elyra is a team of twelve people in Berlin-Kreuzberg, funded, with our first customers already using the product. Several of our engineers started here as working students. You will write code that ships, not exercises.
What you will do
- Build features across our frontend and backend, from the first line to deployment
- Set up automated tests. An area nobody currently owns, so you will take on real responsibility fast
- Take ownership of smaller endpoints, tools and scripts
- Fix bugs, and learn the whole system while doing it
- Write down what you have figured out, so it becomes useful to everyone else
What you should bring
- Enrolled at a university in Germany in computer science, mathematics, engineering or a related field, from the third semester onwards
- Solid working knowledge of at least one language such as Python, Java or TypeScript
- You know Git and work with pull requests
- You can reliably contribute 20 hours per week and would like to stay for at least six months
- You ask when something is unclear instead of guessing
- Fluent German or English. Our code and documentation are in English
Nice to have
- React and TypeScript, or experience with any web framework
- Experience with automated testing, ideally Playwright
- Exposure to algorithms, optimisation or geometry
- An interest in construction, architecture or real estate
What we offer
- Competitive Salary
- Real work from week one, no shadowing
- Two dedicated contacts from the engineering team you pair with regularly
- Flexible scheduling around lectures and exams, and more hours during semester breaks if you want them
- Office in Berlin-Kreuzberg near Moritzplatz, one to two days on site is enough
- If it works out, a path to more responsibility and more hours
How to apply
No cover letter needed. Send your CV and GitHub profile and a few sentences about the last thing you built yourself. We reply within three working days.
The process is short: a twenty-minute call, then either a small exercise or an hour of pair programming.
