We are looking for an experienced Senior Linux Administrator to join our infrastructure team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining our Linux-based server environments, with a strong focus on cloud infrastructure and automation. You will play a key part in shaping our technical direction and mentoring junior team members.
This position offers 80% remote work, with on-site presence in our new Headquarter St. Ingbert required approximately one day per week.
- Administer, monitor, and maintain Debian-based Linux server environments across on-premise and cloud infrastructure.
- Automate provisioning, configuration, and deployment processes using tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or Puppet.
- Ensure system security through patch management, hardening, access controls, and compliance with internal policies.
- Plan and execute capacity management, performance tuning, and high-availability strategies.
- Manage and troubleshoot networking services including DNS, firewalls, load balancers, and VPN.
- Develop and maintain monitoring and alerting solutions using tools such as Zabbix.
- Write and maintain scripts in Bash, Python, or similar languages to streamline operations.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and disaster recovery plans.
- Collaborate with development and DevOps teams to support CI/CD pipelines and containerized workloads.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior administrators.
- Participate in on-call rotations to ensure 24/7 system availability.
- 7+ years of professional experience in Linux system administration, with deep expertise in Debian-based distributions.
- Strong hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and cloud computing principles, including infrastructure-as-code and cloud-native architectures.
- Solid knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing, DNS, HTTP/S, SSL/TLS).
- Proven experience with configuration management and automation tools (Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, or Chef).
- Proficiency in scripting and automation (Bash, Python).
- Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools and workflows (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions).
- Strong understanding of IT security best practices, firewall management, and compliance frameworks.
- Experience with monitoring, logging, and observability stacks.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to perform under pressure.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Fluent in English and German; additional languages are a plus.
- AWS certifications (e.g., Solutions Architect, SysOps Administrator).
- Experience with other cloud platforms (Azure, GCP).
- Knowledge of database administration (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB).
- Familiarity with ITIL processes or similar operational frameworks.
