Bench Scientist Biotechnology (all genders)
YOUR TASK AND RESPONSABILITIES
- You will contribute to the development of cost-effective biotech-based processes for pharmaceutical and crop protection products
- You will lead, design, and execute experiments with defined objectives, both independently and in close collaboration with project and lab teams
- You will apply microbial host engineering approaches to improve protein production in bacteria and yeast
- You will characterize strains across different bioreactor scales and leverage our automated bioprocess platform for efficient process development
- You will support the optimization of laboratory workflows and processes, with a strong focus on automation and the implementation of new digital tools
- You will use digital solutions to improve the efficiency, quality, and scalability of our experimental processes
- You will independently plan, document, and present scientific project progress, ensuring transparent communication of results, insights, and recommendations
- You will collaborate in an international network of interdisciplinary experts across Pharma and Crop Science, including molecular biologists, biochemical engineers, computational scientists, and machine learning specialists
- You will ensure that experiments comply with Safety and Compliance standards
WHO YOU ARE
- You have a Master’s degree with several years of relevant professional experience, or a PhD, in Synthetic Biology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or a related discipline, combined with a strong scientific track record
- You have several years of solid scientific and experimental expertise in molecular biology, genetic engineering, and screening techniques
- You have hands-on experience in strain characterization at microtiter scale and in small-scale fermentation
- You have a digital mindset and sound knowledge of laboratory automation
- You are committed to continuous improvement and demonstrate strong problem-solving skills
- You are highly motivated and results-oriented, with the ability to work effectively both independently and in teams to build commitment and achieve shared goals
- You possess strong and adaptable communication skills, with a proven ability to build relationships across functions, actively seek input from others, and solve interdisciplinary challenges
- You are fluent in English and German as a plus
This is a fixed-term position until the end of the 2027.
