The part-time position (29.25 hours/week) is limited to three
years. The fixed-term appointment is governed by the provi-
sions of the German Act on Fixed-Term Employment Con-
tracts in Academia (WissZeitVG). Teaching responsibilities are
defined by the regulations of the Rhineland-Palatinate Higher
Education Teaching Obligation Ordinance (HLehrVO). The
teaching language is German.
Your Responsibilities
In the Physical Geography research group, your responsibilities
will include teaching courses, primarily for the teacher training
programs in Geography and the Bio/Geosciences program, as
well as participating in the research group’s projects. The posi-
tion offers the opportunity for academic advancement through
the completion of a dissertation. The dissertation topic must be
selected within the framework of a research project of the re-
search group in the field of landscape genesis/geoarchaeology.
Your Profile
Requirements:
- A successfully completed university degree in Geography
(M.Sc./M.Ed.), Earth Sciences (M.Sc.), or Geoarchaeology
(M.Sc.)
- Interest in physical-geographical issues at the intersection
of Quaternary research and geoarchaeology
- Willingness to undertake fieldwork stays lasting several
weeks in Germany and abroad
- Good language skills in German and English
- Motivation, ability to work in a team, and strong communi-
cation and organizational skills
Experience in the micromorphological analysis of sediment and
soil thin sections and in digital image processing is advanta-
geous. Theoretical and practical knowledge of additional sedi-
mentological and pedological laboratory and field methods is
welcome.
The State of Rhineland-Palatinate and the University of Koblenz
