Development Engineer Blind Fastening Aerospace
The Job:
This role is a key technical function to build up a new product line in Aerospace. The role includes the responsibilities for the product design and manufacturing tooling and process design.
The technical role focuses on delivering new product developments to scheduled timelines and budget.
What You’ll Do:
Development of blind fasteners for Aerospace . Responsible for the new products and product improvement engineering, ensuring continuing development of quality fasteners meeting technical requirements within cost and time targets while meeting the development process requirements for Aerospace.
Development of new Fastener designs in parallel process development with tooling design in order to ensure the most cost-effective solution within short development cycle.
Responsible for engineering related documentation, e.g. 3D/2D design, surface finishing, DVP&R, DFMEA, test work instructions according to the Aerospace standards.
Supports/updates a lean product development process based on milestones (MS) covering internal or external requirements in Aerospace with the target to increase customer satisfaction and drive down time-to-market. Recommends new policies or procedures as necessary.
Work with outside suppliers for raw material, plating and heat treatment of metal fasteners.
Work with customers /suppliers / research institutions in order to ensure that the latest research is known and leveraged to ensure maximum technical differentiation of our new Fastener developments.
Qualifications:
Master’s/Diploma degree in aerospace, mechanical engineering or similar.
Design experience of new products based on cold-forming or warm-forming .
Professional experience in Aerospace design standards beneficial.
Proven track record of successful world-class product development in the same or similar industry involving moderate volume production and custom-engineered products.
Experience and familiarity with and significant exposure to contemporary tools of product development: 3D CAD, CAE, 3D printing, 9100, 16949 (DFMEA, DVP&R, Team Feasibility), DFMEA and Six Sigma Quality philosophy.
VA/VE and continuous improvement – participating in cross functional productivity projects.
Good English speaking and writing skills, Fluent in German .
