Working Hours: 40 hours/week, with flexibility for weekends/nights during critical project milestones
Onsite Requirement: 100% onsite, no remote option
1. Technical Oversight & Contractor Management
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, ASME B31.3, API standards, PED 2014/68/EU, and relevant EU/German regulations
- Review Method Statements, ITPs, and quality procedures for mechanical disciplines
- Evaluate RFIs and Field Work Orders related to mechanical scope
- Provide clarification on technical matters and deviations when required
- Review vendor documents such as datasheets, calculations, and certification packages
2. Static Equipment & Piping Oversight
- Supervise installation of cryogenic piping, including verification of materials, welding procedures (WPS/PQR), and PWHT
- Verify installation against approved isometrics, including supports, expansion allowances, and stress considerations
- Witness pressure tests (hydrostatic / pneumatic)
- Review NDT documentation (RT, UT, MT, PT) to confirm weld quality compliance
3. Construction Monitoring & Quality Assurance
- Perform regular field inspections of mechanical installations
- Monitor material receiving and verify Material Test Reports (MTRs) for traceability
- Track punch list items and ensure closure of Non Conformance Reports (NCRs)
- Review and validate as built documentation and redline drawings
- Verify installation and configuration of safety valves and pressure protection systems
4. Pre Commissioning & Commissioning Support
- Participate in Mechanical Completion (MC) walkdowns
- Review and approve pre commissioning procedures and check sheets
- Monitor cleaning, flushing, and preservation activities of piping systems
- Witness commissioning and performance testing of rotating equipment
- Validate calibration of mechanical instruments (pressure, temperature, flow, level)
- Support documentation required for system handover
5. Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare weekly mechanical progress reports
- Contribute to project status updates, including risks, issues, and mitigation actions
- Maintain mechanical registers, test records, and certification logs
- Document technical decisions, meeting minutes, and contractor correspondence
- Support Management of Change (MoC) for mechanical scope alterations
Key Deliverables & KPIs
- 100% of mechanical documentation reviewed within required timeframes
- Weekly field inspection reports with zero undetected quality issues reaching commissioning
- Accurate progress reporting and early risk identification
- Mechanical systems delivered on time for commissioning with minimal punch items
- Timely and complete reporting, with proactive escalation of issues
Essential
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar technical discipline
- Minimum 10 years of mechanical engineering experience in the Oil & Gas sector
- Experience in construction-phase engineering, ideally as Owner’s Representative or within PMC roles
- Experience with LNG terminals, cryogenic facilities, or major energy infrastructure projects
- Knowledge of relevant codes and standards, including:
oASME B31.3
oAPI 610 / 617 / 618 / 682 / 686
oPED 2014/68/EU
oEN 13480
- Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, piping isometrics, and datasheets
Desirable
- API certifications (510 / 570 / 653)
- Professional Engineer (PE/CEng) status
- Experience with FSRUs or Terminal Management Systems
- Prior experience working within EU regulatory frameworks
