We are looking for an Aerospace Engineer (m/f/d) to join our headquarters in Berlin and contribute to the development, application, and dissemination of Desmo, our aircraft design and analysis platform.
This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy combining aerospace expertise with software product development, research collaboration, and customer interaction. You will play a key role in the evolution of Desmo, translating aircraft design methodologies and engineering requirements into powerful digital capabilities. Through your work, you will help engineers and researchers evaluate, develop, and optimize future aircraft concepts more effectively and efficiently.
Working closely with software developers, research partners, customers, and internal stakeholders, you will translate aerospace engineering requirements into practical software solutions, support research and innovation projects, and contribute to the successful delivery and growth of Desmo.
In addition to technical contributions, you will represent our capabilities in research projects and customer engagements, prepare and deliver presentations, support reporting and dissemination activities, and take on coordination and project management responsibilities.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Contribute to the development and evolution of Desmo and its capabilities.
- Translate aerospace engineering requirements into software features, workflows, and product improvements.
- Support the validation, application, and demonstration of Desmo capabilities.
- Collaborate closely with software developers, engineers, and domain experts in an interdisciplinary environment.
- Participate in national and international research and innovation projects.
- Prepare technical reports, project deliverables, presentations, and publications.
- Coordinate project activities and support project management tasks.
- Engage with customers, prospects, research partners, and other stakeholders.
- Gather user feedback and requirements to help guide product development.
- Present Desmo capabilities at meetings, workshops, conferences, and customer events.
- Support proposal preparation and business development activities.
YOUR PROFILE
Required Qualifications
- University degree (M.Sc. or equivalent) in Aerospace Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Solid understanding of aircraft conceptual and preliminary design methodologies.
- Strong interest in software products and digital engineering solutions.
- Experience with programming or scripting (e.g. C#, Python, MATLAB, C++, Java, or similar).
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong organizational skills and willingness to take ownership of tasks and responsibilities.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with aircraft design, performance analysis, sizing, aerodynamics, or multidisciplinary design methods.
- Familiarity with software development processes and modern engineering workflows.
- Experience in publicly funded research projects (e.g. Horizon Europe, national research programmes, or similar).
- Experience in customer-facing or stakeholder-facing roles.
- Experience with project coordination or project management.
- German language skills are a plus.
