Innovation and the TDI Chief Strategy Office
Deutsche Bank’s Innovation team identifies, evaluates, and incubates cutting-edge technical innovation. It is part of the Chief Strategy Office of the bank’s Technology, Data & Innovation (TDI) function and works globally with all business lines and infrastructure functions of the bank. A focus of the team is to create value for clients and the bank using Artificial Intelligence, Large Language Models (LLM) and other advanced data-driven technologies.
As a Lead AI Engineer (f/m/x) in this team, you will lead technical teams to identify, evaluate, and execute data- and AI-driven innovation projects, with a specific emphasis on driving our AI Agent initiatives.
Your key responsibilities
You design and build high-quality software products that use AI Agents and other advanced data-driven technologies to create sustainable value for the Bank.
You practice hands-on and servant technical leadership, enabling, supporting, and guiding your team of engineers. You stay close to the code and jump in to solve the hardest problems.
You are responsible for the technical delivery of innovation projects and act as a trusted advisor to your team and the bank.
You work in a cross-functional team using your technical expertise to identify, evaluate and execute data- and AI-driven innovation projects.
You contribute to identifying and evaluating applications of these technologies by providing your technical insight to your team and other stakeholders across the Bank.
You communicate technical concepts and results effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences, and measure success by the business value your solutions generate.
Your skills and experiences
University degree in a technical or quantitative field (e.g., computer science, mathematics, physics, economics, etc.), preferably a Master’s or Doctoral degree.
Several years of experience in applying AI, machine learning and/or data science in business and/or academia.
Several years of experience in leading technical teams that develop high-quality, production-grade software.
Strong knowledge of Python and ideally one other programming language, as well as relevant AI, Agentic or engineering frameworks (e.g., LangChain, Google ADK, etc.).
Knowledge of GCP or another major cloud platform.
You live and breathe principles of good engineering, architecture and professional software development. Experience building solutions that leverage LLMs.
Comfortable working with and managing uncertainty, ambiguity and different levels of stakeholders. You should feel just as comfortable presenting the pros and cons of a new architecture to senior management as you are debugging a cryptic error message with your team.
