The Head of Business Development, BD ITT & Pharma Western Europe will be responsible for business development to accelerate the ITT & Pharma Western Europe pipeline across products and services, locally or regionally. Specifically, the position will work to 1) acquire targeted product assets via licensing or co-development opportunities and 2) develop and monitor a list of potential acquisitions aligned with the strategy and be prepared to execute M&A activities for strategic opportunities when available. The position must collaborate closely with the WEU SMEs (Head of Marketing per division) as well as the Global Business Development team, commercial teams eg BUHes, legal, finance, medical and the Corporate M&A team.
Additionally, the position will be expected to develop a clear, disciplined, collaborative, and compliant process for evaluating and executing regional licensing opportunities that can be leveraged to drive efficiency and develop portfolios for key target markets in WEU. The position will be required to lead/support negotiations, development of deal models and in collaboration with the legal team, development of agreements. The position must identify and implement best practices externally and internally, with the global team and other Baxter SME leaders to increase efficiencies, focusing on operational excellence and complying with all business and legal requirements.
The position will, drive a Business Development pipeline aligned with the segment strategy, share the pipeline progress with appropriate core leaders in the organization and track and measure the achievement of goals resulting from either business acquisitions or licensing agreements. Potential deals may range from licensing or co-development of differentiated products, acquisition of late life-cycle brands, or acquisition of assets intended to improve routine use of ITP products or add development or manufacturing capacity or capability etc
The position will be representing Baxter externally to potential business partners and bankers and must be professional, responsive, and respectful.
In addition, this role will lead and own the Baxter GPS processes for WEU. Our disciplined Operating Cadence where we use tools to drive our business forward, and we are tracking our progress using value creators and other KPIs and course correct as we see need.
Travel expected for 30-40% of the time, within Europe.
Key Responsibilities:
- Liaise with the global business development team to ensure maximum alignment and transparency when the overall function jointly develops a streamlined, efficient, collaborative, and compliant licensing process to create and maintain tailored portfolios for priority markets and to drive first-to-market opportunities for the global market, here WEU.

Utilizing the optimized licensing process, work with the portfolio team to identify product targets, identify partner leads through both new and existing global partners, and collaborate with country commercial teams to develop business cases.

Develop and maintain a monitor list of potential WEU M&A targets and be prepared to quickly triage and execute on M&A activities when opportunistic targets aligned with the ITP WEU strategy become available.

Work with cross functional teams (including integrated supply chain, R&D, regulatory, medical, finance, and legal) to complete due diligence assessments of potential assets and/or acquisitions.)

Perform valuations of potential assets, develop term sheets, and with the legal team create deal documents (ex. NBO, LOI, APAs), and conduct negotiations with partners.

Present potential deals to senior ITP WEU leadership to gain support and approval.

Demonstrate and enforce compliance with internal processes and procedures as well as all legal requirements.

Establish and implement Baxter GPS process and performance measures for the overall org/team.

Ensure cross-functional collaboration while maintaining compliant to business and legal requirements for confidentiality.

Manage multiple, complex projects with broad scope simultaneously ensuring that prioritization and tasks are clear to internal BD team members and cross-functional collaborators.

Act as a change agent both in embracing change and challenging the status quo among immediate team, peer group and senior leaders.
Your Profile

Strong experience in in the health industry (> 15 years). Solid knowledge of the pharma/medical device sector

Ability to utilize Microsoft O365 and other collaborative tools to organize data, drive processes and track performance metrics.

Excellent communication skills, dynamic, dedicated, and a proactive team player

Excellent situational leadership skills, drives engagement
- Use AI to streamline and minimize manual project tasks

Fluent in English; additional WEU language is a plus
