Delayed hospital discharge costs OECD healthcare systems an estimated $120 billion per year. In Germany alone, the problem adds ~€2–3B in unnecessary costs — and with 75% of hospitals in deficit, every wasted bed-day hits the bottom line.
The discharge process is chaotic. When a patient is clinically ready to leave, a cascade of manual steps begins: handwritten task lists, phone calls to care facilities, fax-based GP notifications, 45–90 minute discharge letters drafted across multiple screens, and a pharmacy that only starts preparing medication after everything else is done. There is no shared view of who is ready to go, what is blocking them, or what each team member needs to do.
The result: internal delays of 2–3 days are common. Beds stay blocked. Revenue stays uncollected — RBK targets €5M/week in billing, and every incomplete discharge letter stalls it. 55% of German hospitals use no dedicated discharge software at all.
We are building the missing orchestration layer: a live discharge readiness dashboard that maps every task on the critical path, tracks completion in real time, surfaces blockers, and pushes actions to the right staff member — before the morning ward round discovers them. Auto-draft discharge letters. One-click GP notifications. Pharmacy pre-alerts. From reactive discharge to planned, same-day execution.
Germany's KHVVG reform (April 2026) creates a funded procurement window: hospitals must prove "time in hospital" reductions to unlock the €13B digitalisation fund. With 1,893 German hospitals and no dominant discharge workflow vendor, the beachhead is wide open. The global patient flow management market is $1.89B today, growing to $4.84B by 2030.

We don't just fund ideas — we co-build them. Join as Founder & CEO and get access to a full-stack venture studio offering designed to give you the best possible start:
We're looking for a hands-on, entrepreneurial CTO to co-found this venture. Early on you'll build the product yourself - shipping the MVP, integrating with hospital systems, and sitting with clinicians to learn how wards actually work. As we gain traction, you'll own technical strategy, architecture, hiring and engineering culture, working closely with the founding CEO and the Founders Factory studio team.
What you'll own:
Set the technical vision and build the Hospital Readiness Engine from prototype to a production-grade, sellable product
Deliver the MVP and get it live on a real ward, fast - replacing paper, not adding to it
Build the core: critical-path engine, task orchestration and the ward cockpit
Own KIS integration via FHIR/HL7, including the realities of legacy clinical IT
Make the system secure and compliant by design for German clinical data
Hire and lead the first engineers, and set the engineering culture
A track record of shipping production software end-to-end, comfortable across backend, APIs, data and a clean frontend (real-time dashboards are core here)
Strong knowledge of system design, cloud infrastructure and deployment
Experience with healthcare interoperability (FHIR/HL7) and integrating with EHR/hospital systems
Bonus: building secure systems for sensitive, regulated data (GDPR, German healthcare/hospital IT expectations)
A builder who thrives in uncertainty, communicates well with clinical and non-technical audiences, and can attract a great team
Business-fluent German skills strongly preferred; professional English required.
Most importantly, you are motivated by building the system that shows, for every patient, how close they are to going home — and what each team needs to do today to get them there.
This is your company. We're here to help.
