As an MTM / STV Process Engineer, you are responsible for developing, validating, and optimizing standard manufacturing times using MTM methodologies and STV standards. You support production teams, improve industrial performance, and ensure that work instructions and planning data reflect accurate, efficient, and safe production processes.
Key Responsibilities
-
Perform MTM-based time studies and generate STV standard time calculations for assembly and manufacturing operations.
-
Analyze manual and semi-automated processes to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities.
-
Support production, industrial engineering, and planning teams by providing accurate and validated standard times for all tasks.
-
Evaluate the time impact of design changes, process modifications, or tooling updates on production performance.
-
Develop, maintain, and improve calculation methods, time modules, and MTM datasets used across manufacturing programs.
-
Create and update work instructions, operation sheets, and manufacturing documentation based on validated time standards.
-
Contribute to lean manufacturing initiatives by proposing optimization measures, workload balancing, and reduction of non-value-added activities.
-
Conduct shop-floor observations and collaborate closely with operators, supervisors, and method engineers to ensure compliance between real operations and standard time data.
-
Prepare reports, dashboards, and presentations related to MTM/STV performance, productivity, and improvement actions.
-
Ensure alignment with industrial standards, safety requirements, and continuous improvement strategies.
-
Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a similar technical field.
-
Proven experience with MTM methodologies.
-
Certifications (recommended or required): MTM-1 Practitioner Certification, MTM-UAS Practitioner Certification, MTM-MEK Certification (for assembly processes), REFA Work Design & Work Measurement Certification (optional but highly valued), Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt or Green Belt (asset for process improvement roles), TiCon MTM Certification (optional tool-specific accreditation)
-
Strong understanding of STV standard time values, work measurement, and industrial time analysis.
-
Proficiency with MTM/industrial engineering tools (e.g., TiCon, SAP, Google Workspace, Excel/Sheets).
-
Knowledge of manufacturing processes, assembly operations, and lean/continuous improvement principles.
-
Ability to work cross-functionally with production, engineering, and quality teams.
-
Analytical mindset, attention to detail, and strong communication skills.
-
Fluent in German, English, additional French language is a plus.
Key Achievements
Reduced standard time deviations through improved MTM analysis and process alignment.
Implemented STV time standards across several production lines, improving planning accuracy and workload balancing.
Identified and eliminated non-value-added time through shop-floor optimization and lean actions.
Developed new MTM modules that increased calculation efficiency.
