Steuerfachangestellte/r — Gewerbe division (Germany)
We're looking for the specialist who will become the first professional of a new division — monthly accounting and tax reporting for Gewerbe entrepreneurs in Germany — and build the team that will carry it forward.
In short — who we're looking for
We're looking for a specialist in German accounting and taxation (Steuerfachangestellte/r) to become the first professional of a new division — serving individual entrepreneurs in Germany (Gewerbe).
We need someone who will do two things in parallel: actually work on the first clients and train the team that takes over the volume — 3–5 operators in the first wave, more later.
The role has a real growth perspective: it gives birth to our internal school and, later, the position of head of division.
Context — why this position exists
TaxReturn recovers taxes from Germany and provides related services (Kindergeld). We work in partnership with a German Steuerberater with an office in Nuremberg.
We are opening a new division: monthly accounting and tax reporting for Gewerbe entrepreneurs in Germany.
The working model is fixed and legally verified:
The working model (a clear legal boundary)
The Chișinău office: client relations, collecting and processing primary documents, bookkeeping, preparing the “almost finished” file.
The partner Steuerberater in Nuremberg: professional review, signature, electronic filing and fiscal liability.
Our specialist does NOT sign and does NOT file declarations — they need no German Steuerberater licence and take on no Chamber liability.
What they will actually do
A. Professional work
- Monthly/quarterly accounting for Gewerbe clients in Datev (access via the partner Steuerberater).
- Preparing filings: EÜR, USt-Voranmeldung, Umsatzsteuererklärung, Gewerbesteuererklärung, Einkommensteuererklärung.
- Processing primary documents — sorting, checking, coding to the Kontorahmen.
- Fiscal onboarding: Gewerbeanmeldung, Fragebogen zur steuerlichen Erfassung, Vollmacht, Freigabe in Datev.
- Correspondence with the Finanzamt and deadline tracking (VAT reporting — by the 10th of the following month).
- Monitoring Scheinselbständigkeit risk — flagging clients who invoice predominantly one single customer.
B. Team building — the part that matters most
- Training 3–5 data operators in the first wave: what each document means, what to do with it, what never to do.
- Writing internal procedures — so the process is identical for every client, regardless of size or industry.
- Quality control of the operators' work before the file goes to the Steuerberater.
Mandatory requirements
- Completed Steuerfachangestellte/r course (certificate is an advantage).
- German at a working level with documents and institutions. No academic German needed, but correspondence with the Finanzamt must be written unaided.
- Knowledge of the terminology and real workflows: EÜR, USt-VA, Kontorahmen, Gewerbeanmeldung.
- Deadline discipline.
- Russian or Romanian for communication with the Chișinău team and with clients.
The ideal candidate
Beyond the requirements above, the pluses in order of priority:
- Real practice at a Steuerberater in Germany — even a few months. It's the most valuable thing in the whole profile: the difference between knowing the theory and having seen a real file, a disorganized client and a letter from the Finanzamt.
- Hands-on experience in Datev — the industry standard and the daily working environment.
- Experience with small, disorganized clients — construction, logistics, couriers, car transfer, care work, IT freelancing, etc.
- Training or mentoring experience — even informal: taught a new colleague, ran an internal training, wrote an instruction.
What is NOT required
This section matters — it prevents the right person from being excluded from the start:
- NO Steuerberater licence needed, and no Steuerberaterkammer membership.
- NO full German Ausbildung needed (3 years, IHK exam). Courses + certificate + practice are enough.
- NO university degree in economics needed.
- NO experience in Romanian or Ukrainian accounting needed — we work exclusively under German law.
- Citizenship and age do NOT matter.
Personal qualities that outweigh the diploma
The ability to explain simply
They will work with people who can't even pronounce the word “Steuerberater” — and with operators learning from scratch.
Tolerance for chaos — without becoming chaotic
The typical client brings a bag of receipts. Our job is to turn that into order — every time, the same way.
Process thinking, not case thinking
Someone who solves a case brilliantly but can't describe how they did it doesn't help us scale.
Honesty at the limit of competence
“I don't know, I'll check” is the correct answer. Approximation costs fines.
A builder, not a user
The desire to build something from zero, not to join a ready-made system.
Who NOT to send us
So that neither we nor the candidates waste time:
- An accountant with experience only in Moldovan/Ukrainian/Romanian law, with no connection to Germany.
- Someone who has only just started the courses (we can keep them in mind, but not for this position).
- Someone looking exclusively for remote work from Germany.
- Someone who wants to work alone, on their own cases, without training anyone. Training is not an accessory of this role — it's half of it.
What we offer
- German-level salary — negotiated individually, based on experience.
- Official employment.
- A key role in a new division, with a clear perspective of leading the team they build.
- Direct work and mentoring with a German Steuerberater with his own practice in Nuremberg.
- For candidates currently in Germany willing to relocate to Moldova: company-provided housing, travel, support with the move and paperwork.
Where they will work — two options
PREFERRED option — Chișinău office
The specialist works from our office and trains the team daily, in person.
This is the option we care about most, because on-site training is several times faster than remote.
ALTERNATIVE option — based in Germany (possibly Nuremberg)
The specialist stays in Germany and travels periodically to Chișinău to train the team and set up and optimize processes.
This option requires more autonomy and discipline in documenting procedures — the team must be able to work correctly between visits.
If moving to Moldova is not possible, we would consider opening an office in Germany.
If you know a suitable person who won't accept the first option — send them to us anyway. The second option is real, not a politeness formula.
