OT Engineer (all genders)
As an OT Engineer (all genders) you are responsible for the integration and further development of Historian and automation systems in a GxP-regulated production environment at the Leverkusen site.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- You take responsibility for the end-to-end connectivity of production equipment and OT systems, including architecture, integration, and continuous improvement in a GxP-regulated environment (incl. change management, validation support, documentation, and quality assurance)
- You ensure a stable, secure, and compliant operation of the OT infrastructure (in particular Siemens PCS 7 landscapes) and further develop it in line with sustainable lifecycle management
- You are responsible for the integration of production equipment (e.g., PCS 7, Desigo, packaging systems, utilities) and other OT systems via industrial interfaces (e.g., OPC UA/DA, network integration, system-specific interfaces)
- You design and optimize network-based communication structures and data flows between machines, control systems, and higher-level systems
- You ensure consistent and scalable usage of production data, including the connection of historian solutions (e.g., AVEVA PI) as part of the overall architecture
- You actively contribute to the operation and further development of virtualization and infrastructure platforms in OT environments (e.g., Hyper-V in the PCS 7 context) – from planning and implementation to optimization and troubleshooting
- You support the analysis and resolution of incidents within the system and communication landscape, especially at OT system interfaces
- You provide technical guidance and support to Manufacturing Operations and Automation Engineering with a focus on connectivity, data flows, and system integration in OT environments
- You manage external service providers and foster knowledge sharing and capability development within OT system engineering and across the organization
WHAT DISTINGUISHES YOU
- You hold a Master’s degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree with relevant professional experience
- You bring solid experience in OT environments and industrial system integration, ideally within a GxP-regulated industry (e.g., Pharma, Chemicals)
- You have hands-on experience with Siemens PCS 7 (including infrastructure, networking, and virtualization) and potentially other automation systems
- You have experience in the integration of machines and systems via industrial interfaces and networks (e.g., OPC UA/DA, databases, REST)
- Experience with historian systems such as AVEVA PI (e.g., data acquisition, interfaces) complements your profile
- You have a strong understanding of OT architectures, network communication, and data flows between systems
- You are familiar with lifecycle management and operation of OT systems under GMP/GxP, including change management and documentation
- You combine conceptual thinking with operational proximity to production and enjoy taking ownership
- Strong communication and coordination skills in German and English round off your profile
- Your experience in technical ownership or lead roles combines conceptual responsibility with operational proximity to production
