Looking for a Simulation and Data Engineer to join the Factory Planning & Systems Team at Tesla. This role combines discrete event simulation with data analysis to solve capacity, throughput, and efficiency challenges across the complete Gigafactory. You'll work with cross-functional teams to drive planning decisions and deliver tangible improvements to production.
What You'll Do-
Gather and analyze manufacturing, equipment, and vehicle data using SQL and statistical tools to identify failure patterns, performance trends, and key inputs for simulation models

Leverage AI and automation tools to accelerate data analysis, model development, and reporting workflows

Build, calibrate, and maintain discrete event simulation models to evaluate capacity, test scenarios, and support manufacturing planning decisions

Interpret simulation outputs to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies; develop and present data-driven improvement recommendations

Collaborate with engineering, production, and planning teams to communicate findings, align on priorities, and support implementation of approved improvements

Manage multiple simulation projects simultaneously; prioritize tasks based on business impact and deadlines, and communicate progress and tradeoffs to stakeholders

Document model assumptions, methodologies, and validation results to ensure models are reproducible and auditable by the team
What You'll Bring-
BS in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field; MS preferred

Experience with discrete event simulation (FlexSim preferred, Plant Simulation, AnyLogic, Arena, or similar)

Proficiency in data analysis tools: SQL, Excel, Python, and visualization platforms (Power BI, Tableau, or similar)

Working knowledge of AutoCAD, statistical methods, and AI-driven automation tools

Exposure to high-volume manufacturing environments (automotive is a plus)

Familiarity with manufacturing KPIs (OEE, throughput, cycle time, availability)

Strong analytical reasoning, ability to break down complex problems, question assumptions, and learn new concepts quickly

Clear verbal and written communication, able to explain technical findings to non-technical stakeholders

Self-driven and organized, manages priorities independently and takes ownership of work end-to-end

Fluent in English
