Second-generation quantum technologies are the key to innovative applications in the fields of communication, sensing, information processing, and imaging. In recent years, the Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute has been expanding its expertise in this field of quantum technologies along the whole integration chain, in particular for quantum communication, quantum key distribution, and photonic integrated circuits with the goal of advancing research in this field and transferring it to new applications. - Characterization of photonic integrated circuits and components for quantum communiaction
- Planning, preparation, execution, and documentation of experiments, system tests, and component validation
- Software programming (C++ or Python) for device control, data analysis, and simulations
What you contribute
- Full-time student of physics, communications engineering or electrical engineering with good to very good grades
- Professional commitment and motivation
- Team spirit, ability to work independently and autonomously
- Good communication skills in German and English
- Experience in one or more of the tasks (see above) is advantageous

The position is initially limited to 1 year. An extension is explicitly desired.
The monthly working time is 80 hours. This position is also available on a part-time basis.
