What to Expect
Casting trimming is a relatively new scope for Giga castings in Tesla Berlin. In this role, responsible engineer will be THE ONE point of contact for all trim tool related topics for casting tooling team. This role requires high adaptability and leaning from a relatively new process to make improvements at a rapid pace in order to meet the OEE requirements for casting shop.
What You'll Do-
Responsible for all aspects of casting trim tool starting from RFQ to the end of tool life.

Keep track of all downtimes related to trim tool, provide intermediate and permanent corrective actions, taking the lead on implementation those activities and validation for effectiveness.

Find ways to improve die life, such as lifetime of punches, knives. Work with suppliers to test different materials, coatings and create a standard for future dies.

Create a maintenance schedule for trim tools, defining which components to change at what interval.

Create a plan for spotting the trim tools and train tooling techs on correct procedure for spotting.

Create a daily/weekly TPM plan for trim tools, work with tooling supervisors and techs to incorporate it.

Standardize consumables for all trim tools where ever possible, keep track of quantities in Flux.

Collaborate with other support departments to proactively find ways to improve OEE of the system

Keep track of product changes working closely with the design and tooling teams, implement necessary changes in trim tools to accommodate product changes.
What You'll Bring-
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

Minimum 5+ years as HPDC tooling engineer working on complex parts

Strong communication skills to work with all levels of organization to get the message across.

Experience in Stamping or Casting Trim Tool design is a plus.

Proficient in use of CATIA V5

Strong understanding of GD&T and tooling assembly.

Excellent collaboration skills to work with all cross functional teams in multiple factories.

Ability to make sensible and data driven decisions.

Demonstrable ability to make crystal clear maintenance plans for complex tools
