High volume battery cell manufacturing is at the heart of Tesla’s business, and the 4860 cell team is looking for a highly motivated Continuous Improvement Coordinator who will drive dry electrode production improvement projects from start to finish.
This role requires a highly organized mindset, a passion for launching new technologies, and an unparalleled ability to pull people together to make things happen. Our manufacturing processes AND program schedules push the limits of what is physically possible. This requires you to be extremely detail oriented and drive the cross-functional teams to execute quickly at high quality. You will drive collaboration between Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Production to ensure our team’s goals are aligned with company priorities. You will work to understand the opportunities, challenges, and dependencies of each project, translate scattered information into a concise and complete message, and communicate to every team member. You will aim to make our team efficient and effective while reducing ambiguity from Tesla’s plans.

What You'll Do-
Manage the cross-functional team to ensure successful continuous improvement of manufacturing lines

Accountable for creating, maintaining, and communicating schedules and plans for cell manufacturing projects including process development, process validation, line design, equipment fabrication, and supplier development

Define long term strategy to improve yield and quality, connecting action across the organization from our supply base to final inspection

Define multiple solutions for each problem, and balancing risk across different teams (reducing upstream variation and increasing downstream process window)

Coordinate and build milestones with product design, manufacturing engineering, facilities team, and production team

Track equipment readiness and report effectively on status, blockers, and changes

Track project costs and drive cost management improvement

Develop and maintain effective communication channels to all stakeholders

Provide technical leadership and project management skills to identify creative and timely solutions to key program blockers

Identify team priorities and motivate the project team to complete critical tasks within time and resource constraints
What You'll Bring-
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering (or similar technical engineering discipline), and/or evidence of exceptional experience

Data driven experience in the management of engineering projects for mass-produced products

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written to technical and non-technical audiences

Proven ability to operate under pressure while managing multiple priorities simultaneously

Experience in a high-volume production/manufacturing environment

Adapts to changes quickly and manage conflicting priorities

Ability to work cross-functionally and manage large teams’ projects
