Distribution Manager
The role manages daily distribution operations to make sure orders are fulfilled accurately, on time, and within budget. It typically involves coordinating warehouse staff, carriers, third-party logistics providers, and internal teams such as procurement, sales, and customer service.
Main responsibilities
- Plan and manage distribution and dispatch operations.
- Oversee receiving, storage, picking, packing, and shipping.
- Monitor inventory accuracy and cycle counts.
- Create delivery schedules and route plans.
- Track KPIs such as on-time delivery, order accuracy, and transport cost.
- Lead, train, and evaluate warehouse and transport staff.
- Control budgets and look for cost-saving improvements.
- Ensure health, safety, and regulatory compliance.
Common requirements
A strong candidate usually has experience in distribution, logistics, or supply chain management, plus team leadership ability and good analytical skills. Many postings also ask for familiarity with warehouse management systems, route planning software, and reporting tools.
