Our research is based on the analysis of large and complex biomedical datasets, including omics, imaging, spatial, and clinical data. Modern AI-based and data-intensive analysis approaches place high demands on compute, storage, and software infrastructure. A powerful, reliable, and flexible scientific IT infrastructure therefore forms an essential foundation for our research.
In this position, you will work together with our scientists to shape and further develop the technical infrastructure required for modern biomedical research. The focus is on Scientific Computing as well as the design, provision, and maintenance of compute, cluster, storage, and workstation systems.
Your tasks:
- Design, setup, operation, and further development of our scientific Linux-based CPU and GPU compute infrastructure in Kubernetes
- Administration, monitoring, and optimization of compute clusters, including user and resource management, performance analysis, maintenance, automation, backup, and troubleshooting
- Advising researchers on the technical implementation of compute- and data-intensive research projects
- Implementation of IT security, data protection, and research data management requirements in cooperation with the responsible UKE departments
- Planning and technical specification of new infrastructure components as well as selection and procurement of servers, GPU systems, storage, network, and cluster components
- Administration and lifecycle management of scientific workstations and high-performance analysis workstations
- Documentation of systems, processes, and technical standards as well as further development of best practices for our scientific infrastructure
This position is temporary for 2 years due to third-party funding.
