We’re seeking an Quality Field Engineer to join our international team, where you’ll be the eyes and ears on-site, ensuring I&C systems are installed, tested, and commissioned to the highest standards. This role is ideal for those who are comfortable working in dynamic construction environments, thrive on detail, and are committed to upholding compliance and quality on every aspect of field I&C activities.
As a Quality Field Engineer with an Instrumentation and Controls emphasis, you’ll be stationed on-site to directly inspect, monitor, and report on all field I&C activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, applicable codes, and safety standards. Your day-to-day focus will include conducting field inspections of instrument installations, witnessing loop checks, calibration verifications, functional tests, and pre-commissioning activities. You’ll identify non-conformances, raise and track NCRs, liaise with contractors and construction teams, and ensure timely close-out of punch items. You will work closely with the QA/QC Manager and project team to maintain accurate inspection records, contribute to the completeness of Manufacturing record books (MRBs), and ensure all I&C field activities are executed in conformance with project drawings, specifications, and safety requirements. National and international travel will be required.
What You'll Do-
Perform day-to-day field inspection of I&C installation activities including instrument mounting, tubing, cabling, conduit routing, cable tray installation, and junction box terminations, ensuring compliance with project specifications, drawings, and applicable standards.

Witness and verify loop checks, instrument calibration, control valve stroke testing, functional testing of safety instrumented systems (SIS/ESD), and pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.

Identify, document, and raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and punch list items; track open items through to satisfactory close-out in coordination with the QA/QC Manager and construction team.

Review and verify that contractors are working from the latest approved revisions of engineering documents, including instrument data sheets, loop diagrams, hook-up drawings, cable schedules, and installation specifications.

Monitor contractor’s implementation of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), verify completion of inspection hold and witness points, and sign off on completed inspection records in a timely manner.

Participate in surveillance inspections and audits of contractor QC activities, including verification of instrument material traceability, storage, and handling requirements.

Provide active support to the project team in the review and finalization of pre-commissioning dossiers and project final documentation packages.

Interface with design engineers, automation engineers, and project QA/QC team to clarify field installation requirements, resolve technical queries, and process RFIs during construction and commissioning.

Support and clarify interfaces between I&C, electrical, mechanical, and civil contractors on site to ensure seamless coordination of multi-discipline activities.

Compile and submit daily, weekly, and monthly field inspection reports to the QA/QC Manager, accurately reflecting inspection coverage, progress, and outstanding issues.

Ensure Quality Assurance, integrity, and consistency of all I&C construction and installation activities in accordance with company procedures, project specifications, and industry best practices.

Verify that contractors employ qualified personnel for specialised I&C activities, including calibration technicians and SIS functional test engineers, and confirm valid certification records are on file.

Skilled in field instrumentation types (pressure, temperature, flow, level, analytical instruments), DCS/PLC input/output verification, safety instrumented systems (SIS/ESD), and control valve assemblies including actuator and positioner checks.
What You'll Bring-
Instrumentation & Controls Engineering degree, Automation Engineering, or equivalent technical qualification; relevant trade certification in instrumentation is also considered.

Minimum of 3 years of field experience in construction, commissioning, or inspection roles involving I&C systems on industrial or infrastructure projects; experience with a third-party inspection company is preferred.

Strong knowledge of applicable field installation standards and codes (e.g., IEC 61511, ISA 5.1, EN/ISO standards, VDI/VDE guidelines, and project-specific specifications).

The candidate should have demonstrated the ability to work in matrix organizations and to operate and navigate within an international company.

Ability to work independently in a field environment with minimal supervision.

Fluent in English; German language skills preferred.

Conversant with software tools as required for the position (e.g., field inspection management systems, calibration records software, document control platforms).

Experience working within international and multicultural project teams.
