Packaging technologists are true specialists in packaging. In this profession, you will learn how to design, manufacture, and test modern packaging made from cardboard, paper, cartonboard, plastics, and films. From the initial idea to the finished packaging, you will work on state-of-the-art machines, control production processes, and ensure that packaging is stable, safe, and resource-efficient.
During your training, you will become an expert in materials science, production processes, quality assurance, and machine technology – contributing to products being safely packaged and transported.
During your 3-year apprenticeship, you will learn, among other things:
- How stable and creative packaging is made from paper, cardboard, cartonboard, plastics, and films
- How to operate, control, and maintain modern production and die-cutting machines
- How to plan and monitor production processes
- How to carry out quality checks and measurements
- How to create technical production documentation
- How to work as part of a team with colleagues from production, engineering, and quality assurance
- Knowledge related to sustainability and material efficiency, e.g., the use of recyclable materials
