We are seeking an experienced Technical Program Manager to lead the renewable energy planning and development program across Amazon Store’s European site network. This role will drive the strategic planning, execution, and delivery of on-site renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, and energy storage solutions. The ideal candidate will bridge technical expertise with program management excellence to accelerate our renewable energy portfolio expansion.
Key job responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Development
- Identify and evaluate the need and opportunity for renewable energy solutions across European markets to meet public policy needs and reduce cost of energy
- Conduct feasibility studies and technical assessments for solar, wind, and energy storage projects
- Develop and prioritize the multi-year renewable energy solution roadmap for retrofits of existing sites in Amazon’s network and incorporation into new sites being launched
- Analyze market trends, policy changes, and grid infrastructure to inform strategic decisions
- Partner with business stakeholders to develop business cases and obtain funding approval
Program Management & Execution
- Accountable for renewable energy deployment value stream, end-to-end from strategy through execution
- Own the program roadmap (single source of truth) for all onsite solar, wind, and storage initiatives across Europe
- Drive cross-functional alignment across responsible individuals from engineering, procurement, legal, finance, and operations teams
- Manage complex, multi-stakeholder relationships involving internal teams, external partners, utilities, and regulatory bodies
- Communicate program updates and recommendations to senior leadership
Technical Oversight
- Define technical requirements from business requirements for solar, wind, and storage initiatives
- Own the review and approval of technical designs, specifications, and engineering deliverables
- Ensure projects meet performance, safety, and sustainability standards
- Evaluate emerging renewable energy technologies and recommend adoption strategies
- Drive continuous improvement in program processes and frameworks
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Energy Management, or related technical field
- 6+ years of experience in renewable energy project development or technical program management
- Proven track record of delivering commercial-scale infrastructure or energy projects
- Deep understanding of European energy markets, grid infrastructure, and regulatory frameworks
- Experience with solar PV, wind, or energy storage technologies
- Strong program and project management skills with proficiency in tools like Asana, MS Project, Jira, or similar
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Speak, write, and read fluently in English
- Travel up to 20%
- Experience working within a global company, with multi-country responsibilities
- Master's degree in Renewable Energy, Engineering, or MBA
- Experience with energy modeling software (GridCog, Energy Toolbase, PVsyst, etc.)
- Background in commercial-scale project finance and economics
- Track record of managing programs with budgets exceeding 5M
- Fluency in additional European languages preferred
