About lemon.markets
We enable anyone to be an investor. Our mission is to grow investing opportunities for all European customers and businesses. By empowering FinTechs, banks, and wealth managers to offer investment products, we help create financial well-being for their customers.
lemon.markets is a Brokerage-as-a-Service platform: simple digital access to capital markets through a single API. Our API-first infrastructure abstracts brokerage complexity with a well-documented API, a self-service customer operations portal, and a clear regulatory framework, so partners can launch customer-centric, compliant products in weeks, not months.
As part of the dwpbank Group, we share a clear goal: we enable anyone to be an investor by making investing in capital markets more accessible. By combining dwpbank’s long-standing expertise and stability with lemon.markets’ technology-first mindset and speed, we are building a modern, modular securities services ecosystem. Together, we offer faster time-to-market, modular services, and a modern customer experience that helps financial service providers stay competitive and respond more flexibly in a changing market.
Your Mission
As Senior Risk Management Specialist, you will help scale and further develop lemon.markets’ Risk Management Framework in a period of growing regulatory expectations, business complexity, and organisational maturity. Sitting within the Risk team and working closely with the Head of Risk, you will take over meaningful responsibilities across multiple risk domains and help ensure our controls, assessments, and governance evolve with the company. Over the next 6 to 12 months, your focus will be on strengthening risk processes across operational and non-financial risk topics, contributing to financial risk topics such as ICAAP and ILAAP, and improving the structure, transparency, and efficiency of our risk tooling and reporting. This role matters because strong, pragmatic risk management is a core enabler of scalable growth in a regulated Brokerage-as-a-Service business. You will work across Product, Engineering, Operations, Compliance, and other stakeholders to turn regulatory and risk requirements into practical, tech-enabled solutions that reduce manual work and improve decision-making. It is a strong opportunity for someone who combines broad risk knowledge with a hands-on mindset and wants to help build a mature framework in a fast-moving environment.
In this role you will:
Own the identification, assessment, and documentation of risks across key domains together with the Risk team, business stakeholders, and control owners, so lemon.markets can make informed decisions and maintain a resilient risk profile as the business grows.
Drive risk assessments, control testing, and issue remediation tracking with teams across Product, Engineering, Operations, and Compliance, so we can detect weaknesses early, strengthen controls, and follow through on corrective actions.
Maintain and improve our internal control framework, risk register, and operational risk procedures in close collaboration with the Head of Risk and cross-functional stakeholders, so our framework remains effective, usable, and aligned with business and regulatory needs.
Contribute to risk topics across operational and non-financial risk, financial risk, ICAAP, ILAAP, third-party risk, and security-related assessments, so we can build a broader and more integrated view of risk across the organisation.
Draft clear business and technical requirements for process improvements, tooling enhancements, and automation initiatives with Product, Engineering, and Operations, so we can increase risk transparency, improve reporting quality, and reduce manual work.
Collaborate with auditors, supervisory stakeholders, and internal teams on evidence gathering, incident analysis, root-cause identification, and follow-up actions, so lemon.markets stays audit-ready and continues to improve the effectiveness of its risk management practices.
You’ll be successful in this role if you:
You bring strong hands-on experience in Risk Management within FinTech, banking, audit, consulting, or a similarly regulated environment, with broad exposure across multiple risk domains.
You have solid knowledge of operational and non-financial risk, internal controls, risk governance, and risk assessments, plus a good understanding of financial risk topics such as credit, market, liquidity, ICAAP, and ILAAP.
You are familiar with the relevant regulatory foundations, including MaRisk, DORA, CRR, IFR, and applicable EBA and ESMA guidelines; knowledge of MiFID, MaComp, and WpHG is a strong plus.
You are confident working with risk management tools, structured documentation, reporting, testing, and validation, and you are comfortable translating requirements into pragmatic process or tooling improvements.
You communicate clearly in English, and you ideally bring professional working proficiency in German to navigate regulatory documents and stakeholder communication in a German market context.
You are hands-on, analytical, and collaborative: you enjoy building, improving, and following through, work well across functions, and stay effective in fast-moving or sometimes ambiguous environments.
