We are seeking a scientifically driven Associate Director to lead a Computational Biology team focused on Cardio-Renal-Metabolic (CRM) diseases and drive computational innovation in drug discovery. In this role, you will manage a computational portfolio and work in close collaboration with scientists in the CRM therapeutic area to strengthen confidence in our pipeline and accelerate discovery using advanced data science and computational biology approaches. You will champion the integration of multi-omics, human genetics, imaging, and clinical data with cutting-edge computational approaches as a foundation and drive innovation by leveraging both internal and external collaborations and capabilities.
As a key member of our growing Computational Innovation Department (@computationalinnovation), you will shape the strategic direction of computational biology within Cardio, Renal and Metabolic diseases, contributing to the discovery and development of transformative therapies that improve patients’ lives.
This position has a hybrid setup with approximately 2-3 days per week on site. It can be filled in Ingelheim or Biberach. If filled in Ingelheim, 20% of travelling is expected to ensure a close connection to the teams in Biberach.
- In your new role, you will lead and manage a team of computational biologists, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation and scientific excellence.
- You will act as the contact to the CRM therapeutic area, ensuring alignment across the therapeutic area portfolio.
- Furthermore, you will also provide strategic guidance, mentorship and development opportunities to team members, ensuring their growth and the team’s overall success.
- You will spearhead cutting-edge computational biology methods for target discovery, with focus on Cardio-Renal-Metabolic diseases.
- In addition, you will establish and maintain standards for data analysis, ensure the quality, integrity and reproducibility of computational results.
- For stakeholders, you will translate computational concepts and results into actionable insights to facilitate data-driven decision-making.
- PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Mathematics, Statistics or related field, with long-term experience in computational sciences applied to drug discovery
- Proven track-record of scientific and pharmaceutical accomplishments, preferably in CRM indications
- Demonstrated expertise in computational driven drug discovery
- Strong leadership experience in line management including ability to plan, allocate and manage resources efficiently
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex computational concepts to divers audiences
- Strong interpersonal skills for fostering collaboration across multidisciplinary teams and experience in mentoring junior scientists and fostering a culture of innovation
