Freelance German Project Manager (Native German Speaker)

About the Role
We are looking for a Native German-speaking Freelance Project Manager to support end-to-end publishing projects for global publishing clients. This is a remote, part-time opportunity ideal for experienced publishing professionals who can work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure timely, high-quality project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end publishing projects from manuscript receipt to final delivery.
- Plan, execute, monitor, and deliver projects within agreed timelines and quality standards.
- Coordinate with authors, editors, production teams, vendors, and clients across different geographies.
- Track project schedules, productivity, quality, and resource utilization.
- Ensure compliance with client specifications, publishing standards, and service-level agreements (SLAs).
- Identify project risks, resolve issues proactively, and drive continuous process improvements.
- Prepare project status reports and communicate updates to internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams while working remotely.
- Commit to working approximately 4–5 hours per day based on project requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Native German Speaker (Mandatory).
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in any discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of Project Management experience in the ePublishing industry.
- Proven experience managing Books and/or Journals publishing projects.
- Strong understanding of publishing workflows, including Copyediting, Typesetting, XML, Pagination, Proofreading, and Quality Control.
- Excellent communication skills in both German and English.
- Ability to work independently in a remote freelance environment and manage multiple priorities.
