If you want to grow your skills in a modern data platform environment and support the technical evolution of how data is modeled, tested, deployed, and consumed across an organization, this role is for you. Join us and help drive the next stage of our BI and data platform evolution.
As a Data Engineer, you will work closely with our Senior Data Engineer to support and further develop our data platform within the Business Intelligence team. You'll collaborate with Data Analysts to enable data-driven working across the organization while continuously building your own expertise in modern data engineering practices.
In this position, you'll work in a hybrid setup – combining remote work within Germany with regular on-site presence at our office in Schöppingen. We'll find a setup that suits both you and the team.
These are your tasks:
You support the ongoing migration from our legacy on-premise MySQL data warehouse to a modern cloud-based platform, working alongside our Senior Data Engineer.
You help design and maintain data architectures combining lakehouse concepts with classical data warehousing (star / snowflake schemas).
You develop and operate ETL/ELT pipelines using SQL and Python under the guidance of senior team members.
You help apply and further develop established standards for data modeling, testing, deployment, and documentation.
You contribute to CI/CD pipelines with automated tests and deployments, using GitHub as the central version control platform.
You work closely with analysts to provide stable semantic models as the foundation for Power BI and self-service analytics.
You support cross-functional projects on data engineering topics, learning from and collaborating with experienced engineers.
Regular team updates help you share knowledge, promote transparency, and continuously improve our data platform.
This is what you’ll bring to the table:
You bring first professional experience in data engineering or data warehousing (e.g., through a working student role, apprenticeship, or 1–2 years in a junior position), ideally with some exposure to cloud environments.
You have solid command of SQL and growing proficiency in Python, combined with the motivation to continuously expand your skills in building efficient data pipelines.
A genuine interest in modern data architectures and the ambition to learn how scalable and sustainable data platforms are designed round off your profile.
Some familiarity with CI/CD, DevOps practices, and Git/GitHub is a plus, but what’s more important is your willingness to learn about these topics.
You have a structured and proactive working style paired with curiosity, openness to feedback, and the motivation to learn from experienced colleagues.
Strong communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and genuine enjoyment of working together in a team define you.
English (C1) enables you to collaborate confidently across teams. German is a significant advantage but not mandatory.
What this role is – and what it is not
This role is not a pure BI or reporting role. It's a hands-on opportunity to grow into data platform engineering, working closely with an experienced Senior Data Engineer, and to build real expertise in modeling, automation, and data pipeline development.
This is what we offer you:
Company Culture: Open culture with flat hierarchies, where individual initiative is encouraged.
Employment Contracts: Permanent positions that offer long-term security.
Flexibility: Flexible working hours and options for mobile work and full-remote contracts.
Equipment: Freedom to choose your preferred work hardware.
Onboarding: Well-structured onboarding with support from a personal "buddy."
Work Environment: An inspiring environment with dedicated colleagues and a dynamic community.
Development Opportunities: Diverse opportunities for personal growth and development.
Additional Benefits: Attractive perks such as company pension plans, health programs, and regular team events.
... and much more!
