Key responsibilities
In this role, you will actively shape the industrial future by working together with and at the customer to develop digital solutions (e.g., for process optimization, decarbonization, and security) tailored to their individual challenges, based on our broad portfolio (automation, drives, and services). Through your regular presence and deep understanding of processes, you will contribute to making customer operations in process industries—such as metals, pulp & paper, cement, and mining—more efficient, digital, and sustainable across Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. Together with our experts and cross-functional teams, you will develop innovative solutions with a clear customer focus. You will work closely with our industry-specific sales organization, placing particular emphasis on positioning our digital portfolio as a valuable extension of our established offerings.
You will be mainly accountable for:
Further developing and implementing the sales strategy for the digital portfolio, as well as strategically expanding customer relationships in Germany, Switzerland, and Austria to drive sustainable growth and long-term partnerships with both existing and new customers.
Taking responsibility for the systematic development of the sales pipeline, actively pursuing opportunities through to successful closure to ensure budget achievement.
Analyzing customer needs and leveraging your knowledge of the ABB portfolio to develop tailored and effective digital solutions that deliver optimal customer outcomes, measurable added value, and sustainable innovation potential.
Closely collaborating with marketing, sales, and other business units to develop robust sales strategies and proposals, ensuring both technical and commercial accuracy, while identifying new market potential.
Providing functional leadership and guidance to the industry-specific sales organization to drive the adoption and integration of the digital portfolio.
Taking responsibility for the operational support and successful execution of digital solutions projects as the interface to sales, ensuring continuous improvement and alignment with market needs.
Managing formal technical and commercial proposals with clear contractual conditions, and monitoring customer and market trends to develop effective sales and marketing activities.

Qualifications for the role
You hold a degree in engineering, ideally in information technology, electrical engineering, automation technology, or industrial engineering, or a comparable qualification (technician or master craftsman).
You have at least 3 years of experience in technical sales of digital solutions, preferably in the process industry, along with solid project business experience.
You possess product knowledge in drives or automation technology and understand how these technologies are applied and integrated into customer processes, and how they can be optimally enhanced through digital solutions.
You are distinguished by your ability to build and maintain sustainable customer relationships as well as your strong customer and results orientation.
You demonstrate a high level of initiative and intrinsic motivation to drive digitalization and improve existing processes.
You present yourself professionally and confidently in front of customers, effectively steering discussions to understand their challenges and translate them into requirements for our team.
You communicate fluently in both German and English, verbally and in writing, and have strong negotiation skills.
You work collaboratively as part of a team and see yourself as an integral team member, taking a leading role in coordinating proposal teams.
You are willing to travel within Germany, Switzerland, and Austria to provide optimal on-site customer support.
