The Reservoir Navigation Subject Matter Expert plays a critical role within the Research and Technology Development team, supporting the development and qualification of advanced software solutions for reservoir navigation and well placement.
This role bridges field expertise with technology development, ensuring that computational tools and models accurately reflect real-world subsurface conditions. By validating software solutions, defining test strategies, and providing structured feedback, the SME helps drive continuous improvement and global applicability of our solutions.
As a Senior Engineer, Reservoir Navigation Subject Matter Expert / Geosteering, you will be responsible for:
Verifying and validating newly developed geosteering solutions
Defining, documenting and executing user acceptance tests together with end users
Collecting structured feedback during global or regional validation phases
Defining test strategies including test automation
Participation in paper and article preparation for the major professional societies’ events (SPE, SPWLA, EAGE) and respective journals
Technical communication with customers and research institutes
To be successful in this role you will:
Have operational experience in Reservoir Navigation Services (RNS) or geosteering across multiple service levels
Demonstrate strong understanding of well placement strategies and subsurface characteristics
Have expertise in borehole geophysical logging techniques
Hold MSc, Diploma, or PhD in Geology, Physics, Geophysics, or a related discipline
Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate complex simulation outputs
Be familiar with verification and validation concepts as part of common development processes
Show strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with scientists, engineers, and software developers
Be comfortable working in a multidisciplinary environment with global stakeholders
