Systems Engineer (m/f/d) - Avionics
OHB's spacecrafts observe the Earth, relay valuable data, study the solar system, and much, much more. The avionics engineering department works at the core of each spacecraft: We make sure the spacecraft remains under control, make sure all science data is collected. We even make sure that on-board failures are automatically recovered - because in space there is no repair shop. If you like the stars and you like bits and bytes, we might just have the job for you: As Avionics Systems Engineer (m/f/d) you have the opportunity to work in a dedicated & motivated team to define the Avionics Architecture of the spacecraft, design and implement the data handling subsystem and its components and to develop and verify recovery mechanisms to ensure the spacecraft remains safe and operational for years.
Your Tasks
- Avionics Architecture

Define and develop the avionics architecture of the satellite, covering initial sizing, trade-offs, interface budgets and HW performances

Manage the avionics subsystems during detailed design and testing phases as design authority

Programmatic responsibility of the avionics subsystems and corresponding teams, direct reporting to satellite project management

Data interface management and control on physical level and across the protocol stack

Data Handling Subsystem

Design and specification of the data handling subsystem

Evaluation of technical proposals from suppliers

Technical officer guiding the unit procurements throughout the lifecycle (from conception, through design and implementation phases, until unit-level verification)

Data handling subsystem integration into the spacecraft

Unit- and subsystem verification
Your Qualifications

A degree in engineering with a major in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, systems engineering, or compatible qualification

Professional experience with satellite projects in phase B/C/D

Self-managed, proactive and solution-oriented working style

Ability to team leadership as well as work in a multi-cultural team
- Fluency in spoken and written English

Fluency in German is desired (Language skills can be improved through company-facilitated trainings)
