The Institute of Software Security at Hamburg University of Technology is hiring a graduate research associate to work in the area of software vulnerability localization. In particular, we are looking for an excellent PhD student to work on automated techniques for identifying, assessing, and precisely pinpointing vulnerabilities in code and scripts. The prospective PhD student will work under the supervision of Prof. Riccardo Scandariato, who is a dedicated and passionate supervisor. Prof. Scandariato is commited to leading his students on a path to academic excellence while keeping a keen eye on their work-life balance. The working language at the institute is English. The institute is located in Hamburg, a vibrant and attractive city in northern Germany, which is well connected to both national and international destinations.
YOUR TASKS
- Conducting independent and world-class research in the field of security
- Publishing your research results in peer-reviewed journals and presenting at international conferences
- Collaborating with other researchers and visiting other research institutes for academic collaborations and exchanges
- Contributing to the institute´s teaching activities, including the supervision of master´s and bachelor´s theses
- Participating in the preparation of project proposals for the acquisition of external funding
YOUR PROFILE
Requirements
- Completed scientific university studies (masters degree or equivalent), in particular in the subject Computer Science or equivalent
- Outstanding academic results and qualifications
- Excellent communicaton skills in English (both oral and written)
- Programming competence in C/C++, Java, and Python
- Knowledge and experience in Machine Learning
- Close supervision and strong support for PhD completion
