What to Expect
We are seeking a highly motivated Quality Engineer for the Cell Manufacturing plant at Giga Berlin. You will lead quality assurance planning and execution to ensure our products meet the highest standards of product quality and reliability. You identify and resolve process variance that affects product quality, run structured problem-solving and nonconformance control, and take product and process improvements through the full change-management cycle. You will work in close collaboration with Design, Production, Engineering, Supply Chain and others within the plant and across our factories.

The battery cell is one of the most complex and challenging components designed and manufactured at Tesla. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to Tesla’s world-class manufacturing facilities. What You'll Do-
Collaborate closely with Product Design, Engineering, Production, Maintenance, and other functions inside and across Tesla plants
- Apply engineering principles and analytical techniques to drive continuous improvement to manufacturing processes
- Lead identification, root cause analysis, and resolution using 8D methodology and other structured problem-solving tools to resolve manufacturing quality issues
- Track quality performance metrics, prioritize top issues, and drive continuous improvement activities with cross-functional team
- Collaborate cross functionally and with NPI to initiate and implement product, process, equipment, and other relevant changes to improve manufacturability and field performance

Drive cross-functional projects with manufacturing, supply chain, production quality, and development teams to test existing and determine new product specifications and tolerances
- Implement and support creation of production quality system along APQP including but not limited to PFD, PFMEA, Control plan, MSA, SPC and PPAP
- Develop inspection standards, testing plans and instructions, work instructions and manufacturing validation plans to ensure manufacturing capability and product reliability
- Seek out and initiate continuous improvement projects within Tesla manufacturing and at suppliers.

Manage non-conforming production processes via containments and evaluate suspect materials while working closely with internal and external teams to identify disposition and resolve root cause
What You'll Bring-
A hands-on, results-driven approach, with strong analytical ability, organization, and attention to detail
- Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of experience in quality engineering or a related field, with a proven track record of success in leading quality assurance activities
- Working knowledge of manufacturing and quality methods: 8D, DMAIC, Ishikawa, Pareto, hypothesis testing, DoE, process capability, MSA,SPC, OEE
- Practical experience with quality systems, APQP/PPAP, GD&T, and a range of measurement and inspection methods
- Six Sigma Yellow or Green Belt, or equivalent demonstrated problem-solving experience
- Data analysis and visualization skills with tools such as JMP, or Minitab; knowledge of SQL, Python, R, or MATLAB is an advantage
- Experience in automotive or high-volume manufacturing is highly desired
- Experience transitioning products from development to serial production
- Experience introducing new equipment and new processes into a production environment
- Experience with broad variety of measurement and inspection techniques
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to explain complex problems in a structured way using accurate data
- Full proficiency in English; German is a plus
