Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced and detail-driven Weld Inspector to join our project team in Dresden, Germany.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
The Weld Inspector will be responsible for ensuring that all welding and fabrication activities comply with approved specifications, European standards (EN/ISO), and client quality requirements. The role is site-based and will support high-purity process piping systems within a regulated project environment.
Candidates with a pipefitting trade background and experience on Semiconductor or Pharma/Biopharma projects are highly encouraged to apply. Experience working on large-scale industrial or data centre projects will also be considered.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform visual inspection of shop and field welds to verify quality, integrity, and compliance with applicable codes, specs and drawings.
Monitor welding and fabrication activities to ensure alignment with approved WPS, client quality plans, and ITPs.
Inspect and sign off daily weld coupons; ensure correct identification, traceability, and storage.
Review, inspect, and sign off weld logs, ensuring 100% inspection of field welds & correct weld numbering and heat number traceability
Verify correct completion of bore-through logs and related records.
Ensure all welding equipment and inspection tools are calibrated and maintained in correct working condition.
Attend piping walkdowns to confirm installation compliance with isometric drawings and P&IDs (LSPs).
Identify non-conformances, compile punch lists, and support close-out activities.
Upload inspection results, punch items, and QA documentation to project online databases.
Compile and review test packs for pressure testing, flushing, and system handover.
Verify that pressure testing is completed in accordance with scope and system boundary requirements.
Participate in W1 / W2 / W3 system walkdowns with the client to achieve timely and compliant handover.
Support quality audits of welding and fabrication activities, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
Ensure subcontractor works (e.g. insulation, ducting, finishing) align with project specifications and installation requirements.
Liaise with client representatives, third-party inspectors, and certification bodies as required.
Promote a strong safety and quality culture across all welding and inspection activities.
Support continuous improvement initiatives related to welding quality, documentation, and efficiency.
Key Skills and Competencies:
Mechanical Engineering degree, Meister qualification, or recognized trade apprenticeship (Pipefitting or equivalent).
Certified Welding Inspector qualification (e.g. CSWIP, IIW, IWE/EWE or equivalent) required.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Weld Inspection or QA/QC role within a relevant industry.
Proven experience on Semiconductor, Pharma, or Biopharma projects strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge of High-purity and process piping systems, P&IDs (LSPs), isometrics, and weld symbols & EN / ISO welding standards and codes
Familiarity with NDT methods and inspection requirements.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and digital QA / inspection databases.
Strong attention to detail with excellent documentation and reporting skills.
Confident communicator, able to work effectively with multicultural site teams.
Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a larger project team.
English working proficiency required; German language skills are an advantage.
