We're looking for a Senior Financial Accountant (m/f/d) to join our hybrid team based in Berlin or Frankfurt. In this role, you will support the Germany and Austria Controllership team to ensure that the accounting records of both entities accurately reflect the company’s financial position in line with local regulations, US GAAP and corporate policies. You will collaborate with global shared services, external auditors and country leadership to ensure timely closings, audits and compliance. This role requires strong technical skills, independence and the ability to act as a trusted partner to the Country Controller and business stakeholders.
Responsibilities

Review and analyse monthly financial results to ensure accuracy of the trial balance and support periodic closings in line with calendar deadlines
- Support statutory to US GAAP reconciliations for internal reporting and assist with GAAP to tax bridges for deferred tax calculations
- Assist with statutory audit processes by coordinating information flows, ensuring reconciliations and preparing auditor-required analysis
- Coordinate inputs between central teams, statutory auditors and local entities to ensure high quality data and resolution of differences between statutory and US GAAP financial statements
- Investigate accounting issues and provide timely feedback and solutions for management or audit purposes
- Support timely response in initiated tax audits including information collection and initial drafting of responses
- Contribute to integration activities for newly acquired companies and assist in entity-level finance projects
- Prepare ad hoc reports and analyses for local leadership and the Country Controller
- Act as first point of contact for financial questions within the legal entities providing controllership support
- Partner with internal teams to ensure process improvements and compliance with internal controls
Requirements

Degree in business administration, accounting or a related field
- 7-10 years of experience in accounting, ideally in a multinational environment or Big Four audit firm
- Strong knowledge of statutory and US GAAP accounting standards
- Understanding of taxation and transfer pricing principles
- Experience working with shared service centre environments
- Proficiency in ERP systems such as SAP, NAV or similar and strong MS Office skills
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to work independently and prioritise effectively
- High integrity, attention to detail and ability to collaborate with local and global stakeholders
- Fluency in German and English both written and verbal
