About the role
Hugo's is a Dutch-French bakery and wine bar opening at Potsdamer Platz this summer. By day we are a busy café and bakery. From early evening we become a relaxed wine bar with a carefully built natural wine list, honest small plates and a warm, unhurried atmosphere. We also host events, making the wine bar an active and evolving part of what we do.
Hugo's is the official start and end point for Doggy Bag Tours and Baja Bikes, two established Berlin tour companies with around 45,000 international guests a year. From day one we have a steady, reliable flow of people walking through the door.
We are looking for someone to be the face of the wine bar shift and events. Someone who knows wine, loves hospitality and can make every guest feel genuinely welcome, whether they are a regular, a tourist discovering Berlin or someone trying natural wine for the first time. We are a small team building something from scratch and the right person will have real space to grow with us.
Requirements
Experience working with wine — natural wine knowledge is a big plus
Background in hospitality and a genuine love of service
German language skills at B2 level or above
Warm, curious and professional
Comfortable working independently during evening service
Responsibilities
Floor service during the wine bar shift and events
Guiding guests through our wine list, focused on natural, German, Austrian and French producers
Wine bar snacks service and table management
Supporting the team during busy daytime moments when needed
Helping to build the atmosphere and character of the wine bar from day one
