What to Expect
Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg marks a defining moment in Europe for Tesla’s mission of building a world of amazing abundance. Here we will launch revolutionary products on a massive scale, using extraordinary speed, innovation, and efficiency. Our employees will ensure that we achieve our goals, and we welcome you to help us write the next chapter of our success story.
The Gigafactory Berlin Design and Construction Team is looking to hire an intermediate BIM/VDC Engineer. This person will be responsible for the day-to-day coordination and management of construction models for the Gigafactory. The ideal candidate is an agile, practical problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced environment and understands that delivering a highly functional, integrated model on time is critical. You will work closely with Senior VDC Engineers, design teams, and trade contractors to execute digital delivery strategies, ensuring physical and operational spatial coordination.
What You'll Do-
Manage and maintain coordination models from the Design Team, Trade Contractors, and third-party vendors, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Utilize Autodesk Inventor to simplify complex manufacturing and equipment geometry, converting various formats into lightweight representations for seamless integration into the master building model.
- Serve as a bridge between facility design and manufacturing by integrating factory planning and tool-line owner models into the federated model.
- Lead multi-disciplinary clash detection sessions, proactively identifying conflicts between architectural, structural, MEP, and manufacturing elements while delivering practical, cost-effective, and constructible solutions.
- Support an agile project delivery approach by prioritizing timely, practical solutions that keep construction and engineering teams moving forward without “analysis paralysis,” while assisting procurement and construction teams with BIM data extraction, visualization, and alignment for quantity take-offs and cost tracking.
- Contribute to the rollout and enforcement of industry-leading BIM technology, Tesla BIM standards, and digital delivery workflows under the guidance of the Senior BIM/VDC Engineer.
- Ensure as-built models are accurate and facilitate a smooth handover to the facilities team for long-term operations and maintenance.
What You'll Bring-
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil/Structural Engineering, Architecture, or evidence of exceptional equivalent experience.
- 3–5 years of proven expertise working with Revit and Navisworks on complex projects.
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience collaborating with trades on high-tech or industrial facilities (semiconductor, solar, battery, automotive, etc.).
- Strong proficiency with Autodesk Inventor, particularly in simplifying complex solid geometry and converting various file formats.
- Experience working with workshared cloud models on Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) or similar Common Data Environment platforms.
- Familiarity with point clouds, meshes, and Gaussian splatting for design validation and clash detection is a strong advantage. (Note: On-site scanning is not required; the role focuses on downstream data processing and utilization.)
- Strong professional ethic — punctual, respectful of colleagues’ time, attentive, and highly transparent.
Additional Requirements
- Language of operation is English.
- The position is based at Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg in Grünheide.
