Cardiovascular diseases are the number one cause of morbidity and mortality in Western societies. By applying cutting-edge tools in cell phenotyping and transcriptomics, such as scRNA-seq, we focus on the contribution of innate and adaptive immune cells to cardiovascular biology, bridging immunology and cardiovascular pathology. A special interest lies in cell biology and in the molecular signaling pathways that drive (cardio-)vascular inflammation. In addition, we will explore the potential of novel immune-cell therapies to treat cardiovascular diseases.
