Indirect Tax has evolved into one of the most complex areas of tax, presenting significant challenges due to tax authorities taking advantage of an ever-expanding toolbox of legal rules and formal conditions. Drawing upon our extensive expertise in German and wider EU-VAT matters, we ensure that the VAT position of your business is in accordance with the highest standards.
We are seeking a Manager (m/f/d), VAT Services for our growing team in Germany. This is a chance to develop an in-depth understanding of this complex field, working directly with businesses to optimize their VAT processes, provide strategic and innovative tax solutions, defend their interests during interactions with tax authorities e.g., during tax audits, and filing of indirect tax returns. This role will give you unique career opportunities in one of the fastest growing tax practices.
How will you contribute
Lead the preparation of detailed analyses and develop practical solutions for complex or controversial VAT questions
Take ownership of VAT audits and appeals, acting as a key contact for clients and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders
Manage and drive international VAT projects, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery
Monitor regulatory developments and proactively translate changes into actionable advice for clients and the team
Design and deliver tailored training sessions for clients, ensuring effective and practical knowledge transfer
Mentor and guide junior team members, fostering their professional development and reviewing their work
Contribute to business development activities, including client relationship management and proposal preparation
Qualifications:
+3 years of professional experience in VAT / Indirect Tax, gained from a leading tax consultancy or comparable environment
Strong expertise in complex VAT matters and the ability to translate technical concepts into practical client solutions
Proven experience in managing projects and taking ownership of client engagements
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills combined with a pragmatic, solution-oriented mindset
Passion for continuous learning, professional growth, and knowledge-sharing
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and structured, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
An academic background in Finance, Accounting, Taxation, Tax Law or related fields
German Certified Tax Advisor (“Steuerberater”) qualification
Business fluency in both German and English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills
