The Sulzbach-Rosenberg branch of the Fraunhofer Institute for Environmental, Safety, and Energy Technology (Fraunhofer UMSICHT) develops process engineering solutions in the fields of carbon conversion (next-generation biofuels, recycling technologies for plastics and composite materials, biochar), low-emission combustion and heating technology, and the generation and storage of process heat. With a focus on process engineering and plant construction, it supports clients from the initial project concept through pilot plants and demonstrators all the way to market launch.

In our Combustion and Process Heat department, we focus on low-emission combustion processes and process heat. In the FlexNOx-Demo project, fuel staging is being developed and tested at a biomass combustion plant with the goal of reducing nitrogen oxides. To this end, experiments are being conducted with a wide variety of feedstocks.
Be part of change
- Conducting test runs and optimizing a prototype combustion system with staged fuel injection for primary reduction of NOx emissions
- Supervising test series
- Documenting and evaluating results
- Writing a summary of the results in the form of a thesis
- Research on Fuel Grading
What you contribute
Must have:
- Degree in process engineering, environmental engineering, energy engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or a related field
- Good written and spoken German (B level) and/or English (B level) skills
Nive to have:
- Previous experience in the field of combustion technology and emission reduction

The weekly working time is 39 hours. This position is also available on a part-time basis.
