Here, we produce revolutionary products at massive scale with unprecedented speed, innovation, and efficiency. We are looking for a highly motivated Manufacturing Engineer, Can Stamping Equipment to join our team and help write the next chapter of Tesla’s success story.
In this role, you will own the equipment engineering for our Can Stamping lines — including cupping, deep drawing, washing, drying, and conveying systems. You will drive future capacity expansions, support day-to-day Operations, and act as a key member of the Stamping Manufacturing Engineering team.
What You'll Do-
Lead design, installation, commissioning, and qualification of can stamping press lines, cranes, scrap conveyors, and associated automation systems.

Manage technical vendor selection, project timelines, and budgets from concept through final buy-off.

Own Design FMEA creation with vendors and ensure robust cost tracking, punch-list closure, and on-time delivery.

Develop and maintain equipment standards, technical specifications, and detailed “as-built” documentation.

Create equipment RFQ packages and provide clear direction to suppliers while enforcing Tesla’s design, safety, and quality standards.

Schedule and lead equipment trials, buy-offs, and run-off activities both at supplier sites and in Berlin.

Analyze equipment downtime data to identify root causes, implement lessons learned, and drive continuous improvement toward zero unplanned downtime, reduced MTTF, and MTTR.

Prepare and update 2D manufacturing layouts (AutoCAD) and collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute physical layout changes.

Partner with the Safety team to ensure all equipment meets DIN/EN/ISO, CE, and Tesla internal safety requirements.

Document and share best practices across projects to improve future equipment deployments.

Provide technical direction and mentorship to launch support teams, engineering technicians, and interns.
What You'll Bring
Education & Experience
-
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience with demonstrated exceptional ability).

Proven experience in high-speed stamping, automotive press lines, or similar high-volume manufacturing environments.

Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical die design.

Experience with stamping press foundations, utilities, and ancillary equipment is a strong plus.

Previous exposure to Siemens TIA Portal (or equivalent PLC platforms) is a plus.
Key Technical & Professional Skills
-
Solid understanding of equipment safety acceptance processes (DIN/EN/ISO, CE marking).

Proficiency with structured problem-solving methodologies (8D, 5-Why, etc.).

1+ years of experience with CAD software (CATIA V5 preferred).

2+ years of professional experience with AutoCAD for 2D layouts.

Excellent command of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Visio, Project, Jira, and Confluence.

Ability to manage multiple high-priority projects simultaneously under intense time pressure.

Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative, team-first mindset across multiple departments and cultures.

Exemplary verbal and written communication skills.

Fluent in English (German is a strong advantage).
Additional Requirements

Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed (supplier visits, equipment buy-offs, etc.).

Flexibility to support day-shift operations with occasional coverage during critical buy-off periods or major equipment issues.
