About Book-a-Wizard
Book-a-Wizard is a B2B agency specializing in IT infrastructure and managed services. We’re seeking an experienced IT Support Freelancer to provide on-site and remote technical support to our clients on a project basis.
This is a freelance/contract role, not employment. You will work independently, invoicing us directly for your time.
The Role
You will provide technical support to our clients, including:
- On-site troubleshooting (e.g., server room fixes, hardware issues).
- Remote assistance (e.g., software configuration, network diagnostics).
On-Site Representation Clarification:
You may need to visit client sites to perform technical tasks, but only as directed by Book-a-Wizard. You do not represent Book-a-Wizard commercially or legally—all client relationships and agreements remain with us.
What We’re Looking For
Hard Skills & Experience
- Extreme attention to detail and precision: No margin for error in IT support.
- IT Skills: Server maintenance, network troubleshooting, hardware/software support, and infrastructure management.
- Languages: Fluent in English and German (written and spoken).
Work Style & Independence
- 2+ years as an IT freelancer (not as an employee). We will not consider students or those without freelance experience.
- Project-based mindset: Comfortable with variable workloads and clear deliverables.
- No dependency on us: Must have other clients or income sources.
- Autonomy: Can hop on/off projects based on workload intensity.
Logistics
- Based in Berlin: Must be able to travel to client sites in Berlin on short notice.
- Own equipment: Must have your own tools (laptop, diagnostic software, etc.).
What We Offer
- Hourly rate: €35-45/hour (competitive for Berlin’s project-based IT support).
- Flexibility: Work on a project basis, with no fixed hours or long-term commitment.
- Minimal meetings: We avoid unnecessary catch-ups—async updates only (email/Slack).
- Clear framework: Precise scopes, deliverables, and timelines for each project.
- Easy collaboration: Quarterly check-ins to align, with straightforward correction processes.
How We Work Together
- No weekly meetings: Communication is async (email/chat).
- Regular check-ups: Quarterly reviews to ensure alignment.
- Correction process: Clear feedback loops to address any issues.
- Easy offboarding: Either party can terminate with 14 days’ notice.
Important Legal Clarifications
This is a freelance/contract role, not employment. To ensure compliance with German law:
- You must be registered as a freelancer (Freiberufler or Gewerbe) and able to issue invoices.
- You must use your own equipment (laptop, tools, etc.).
- You are responsible for your own taxes and social security contributions.
- You are not a commercial agent (Handelsvertreter) and have no authority to negotiate terms, bind Book-a-Wizard to agreements, or represent us commercially.
- All client interactions are directed and approved by Book-a-Wizard.
