What to Expect
As a Procurement Specialist in the area of Construction Procurement, you play an important role in the construction of the Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg. In collaboration with the construction and planning teams, you are responsible for the procurement of various categories, from planning, through Core & Shell, MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing), to Fitout. The role includes the selection of suppliers through a competitive tendering/quoting process, including the corresponding preparation and follow-up in continuous collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
What You'll Do-
Responsible for the procurement of design and construction services for Tesla’s Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg.
- Oversee the full Procure-to-Pay process, including tendering, bid evaluation, comparison, negotiation, and creation of purchase orders.
- Prepare and present award recommendations to internal management based on detailed offer analysis.
- Conduct contract and price negotiations with suppliers.
- Analyze historical and forecasted expenditures to identify cost reduction opportunities.
- Maintain daily supplier relationships and serve as the primary commercial point of contact.
- Monitor contract fulfillment and internal stakeholder satisfaction.
- Perform regular risk assessments of the contractor and vendor pool and drive proactive sourcing initiatives to mitigate risks and increase supplier diversity.
- Collaborate with Construction and Engineering teams to develop biddable work packages, validate contractor bids against cost and schedule estimates, create Statements of Work, prepare Bid Forms, and provide input for Work Authorizations from design submittal to PO release.
- Lead claims and settlements, channeling relevant information to legal representatives.
- Conduct site walks with contractors and lead supplier onboarding sessions for major awards.
- Track Design Change Requests (DCRs) from development through to completion.
- Proactively engage with all project stakeholders, including Engineering, Construction, Legal, Commissioning, Manufacturing, and Technical Services.
What You'll Bring
- Experience in construction-related Purchasing or Construction Management, and experience with General Contractors and construction drawings for the manufacturing industry.
- MS or BS in Electrical/Industrial/Mechanical Engineering or other with evidence of exceptional experience.
- Additional experience in project Controls or construction management preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail skills and ability to multitask; analytical and judgment skills. Advanced Excel skills preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to identify business process issues and drive process improvement.
- Open-minded self-starter with the ability to adapt, improvise and problem solve.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, Bluebeam and/or Acrobat
- Bilingual candidate: English, and minimum B1 level of German language.
