We are looking for a hands-on Flight Test Maintenance Technician/ Engineer to join our Flight Test team. In this role, you will ensure the flight readiness of our unmanned aircraft through ground tests, flight tests and demonstration campaigns. You will take ownership of operational maintenance, assess the aircraft's technical status and provide the maintenance release for flight.
Working directly with our pilots, flight test engineers and development teams, you will troubleshoot complex prototype systems, translate findings into practical improvements and help establish maintenance processes that are safe, efficient and easy to apply. Your hands-on experience will also contribute to the design of our products, helping us improve maintainability from an early stage and create solutions that simplify inspection, servicing and repair in day-to-day operations. The position combines technical responsibility with extensive field work at national and international test locations.
-
Ensure that our unmanned aircraft and related operational equipment are ready for operation.
-
Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections, on-site diagnostics, troubleshooting and smaller repair tasks
-
Assess the aircraft's maintenance and airworthiness status, release it for flight and ground it when safety-relevant findings remain unresolved
-
Establish and continuously improve maintenance plans, records, instructions, checklists and manuals
-
Document defects and maintenance-related occurrences clearly, track them to closure and provide practical feedback to engineering, manufacturing and airworthiness teams
-
Support flight campaigns through ground handling, test-site preparation, tool readiness, spare-parts planning and deployment to national and international locations
-
Contribute your practical maintenance experience to aircraft development so that maintainability is considered from an early design stage
-
You have proven hands-on maintenance experience with aircraft, drones/UAS, automotive, electrical, mechatronic or similarly complex technical systems
-
Strong troubleshooting skills allow you to identify and resolve mechanical, electrical and mechatronic issues in a structured way
-
A disciplined working style and a strong safety mindset guide your decisions in a demanding aviation test environment
-
Clear documentation comes naturally to you, whether you are recording maintenance work, describing findings or proposing process improvements
-
You enjoy working hands-on at the aircraft as part of the flight team and are willing to travel frequently to national and international locations
-
Fluent English enables you to work effectively in our international and interdisciplinary environment
The following would further strengthen your application:
-
A background in aviation maintenance, such as aircraft mechanic, certifying staff or experience in a Part-66 or Part-145 environment, or a relevant engineering degree
-
Previous work with unmanned aircraft, high-voltage systems, propulsion systems, prototypes or flight test aircraft
-
Familiarity with maintenance manuals, Instructions for Continued Airworthiness, aircraft logbooks, occurrence reporting or quality management systems
-
Full-scale aerospace engineering, not concept slides
-
A 60+ engineer team at Ottobrunn
-
Real ownership and flat hierarchies: a modern startup culture where your input shapes decisions, not just execution
-
Flexible working hours, remote work, and competitive compensation
-
Health & wellbeing: EGYM Wellpass membership and subsidized lunch in our canteen
-
Office extras: espresso coffee, fresh fruit, and soft drinks, plus regular team and company events, and plenty more once you're on board
