As a Commercial Analyst (m/f/d) Power, Gas & Emissions, you will be an integral part of our fast-growing new energy business and support MB Energy’s ambition of “fuelling tomorrow” at its core. As part of the Power, Gas & Emissions team, you will work in a dynamic front-office environment at the intersection of trading, analytics, and commercial decision-making.
In close collaboration with experienced traders and cross-functional stakeholders, you will contribute to trading activities, support operational processes, and create transparency through data-driven insights. This role offers the opportunity to develop a deep understanding of energy markets while taking ownership in a performance-driven environment and building the foundation for a future trading role with direct P&L responsibility.
You will help drive commercial decisions by combining analytical thinking with market understanding and operational excellence.
Support Trading Activities: You support trading and analytical activities with a focus on power, gas, and emissions markets and contribute to commercial decision-making processes.
Drive Front Office Operations: You support the team across all aspects of front-office work, including deal execution, commercial analysis, desk operations, P&L tracking, and exposure reporting.
Analyze Market Performance: You monitor market developments, evaluate trading performance, and help identify opportunities and risks through data-driven analysis.
Coordinate Stakeholders: You work closely with internal stakeholders such as Product Control, Back Office, and Market Risk teams to ensure efficient trading operations and transparency.
Collaborate with Senior Traders: You interact on a daily basis with the senior trading team, supporting strategic discussions and gaining direct exposure to trading activities.
Grow into Responsibility: You continuously build your expertise and capabilities with the opportunity to develop into a trading role with direct commercial and P&L responsibility.
Educational Background: A university degree in Economics, Natural Sciences, Engineering, or a related field.
Professional Experience: First experience in a front-office environment, ideally within power, gas, or emissions trading.
Market & Quantitative Skills: Strong analytical and quantitative capabilities combined with a genuine interest in markets and trading activities.
Technical Skills: Programming skills in Python, VBA, or similar programming languages are required.
Data & Systems Knowledge: Experience working with large datasets using SQL and data analytics tools is highly beneficial.
Detail-Oriented & Reliable: You work accurately and responsibly while maintaining a high level of reliability.
Ownership & Initiative: You take ownership of tasks and proactively drive topics forward from both a commercial and operational perspective
Pragmatic & Solution-Oriented: You have a hands-on mindset and find practical solutions in a fast-moving environment.
