The Role - Junior Automotive Technician – Electric Vehicles (EV)
As a Junior Technician, you will be part of a team responsible for maintaining the safety, reliability and performance of an autonomous electric vehicle fleet.
This is a hands-on entry point into EV and autonomous vehicle technology. Working under the guidance of experienced Master EV Technicians, you will support the maintenance, diagnosis and repair of mechanical and electrical systems, while being introduced to high-voltage systems and autonomous vehicle technologies including LiDAR, RADAR and onboard sensors.
This is a 6–10 month contract role, offering a structured opportunity to build core EV diagnostics and maintenance skills, with exposure to advanced vehicle technologies and operational environments not typically found in a traditional workshop setting.
Compensation & Working Hours
€45,000–€55,000 base salary (pro-rata for contract duration) - with up to a €10,000 sign-on / retention bonus.
6–10 month fixed-term contract
This role will be performed on a shift basis and may include weekend working. Shift patterns will be confirmed once the final site location has been agreed. Candidates will receive full details during the recruitment process and prior to any offer being made.
Responsibilities
- Support the diagnosis, repair and maintenance of electric and autonomous vehicles across mechanical and electrical systems, under the guidance of Master EV Technicians
- Assist with hardware retrofits, including sensor installation and AV hardware replacement
- Support fleet-wide software and firmware update processes
- Assist with diagnostics across EV and AV systems, including electrical, HVAC and mechanical technologies
- Work closely with Master EV Technicians and engineering teams, building knowledge of high-voltage and autonomous vehicle systems
- Maintain accurate repair, diagnostic and parts records
- Follow established safety procedures, including high-voltage working practices
- Progressively develop knowledge of EV, high-voltage and autonomous vehicle technologies through on-the-job mentoring
Requirements
- 3–4 years of hands-on automotive experience as an entry-level mechanic / technician
- Genuine interest in developing a career working with electric vehicles
- Willingness to work toward DGUV 209-093 qualification (SHV Entry A & B – high-voltage isolation and recommissioning of de-energised systems)
- Automotive Mechatronics Technician (Kfz-Mechatroniker) qualification or equivalent, or relevant entry-level technical training
- Comfortable using hand tools, power tools and diagnostic equipment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Careful, methodical and safety-focused approach to work
- Fluent German language skills; English beneficial for collaboration with international teams
- Must have a valid EU driver's licence – Car
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior workshop experience with premium manufacturers such as JLR, Tesla, Porsche, BMW, Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz or similar
- Some exposure to electric or hybrid vehicles
- Basic knowledge of Linux, Python, Java, C++, Jira or Google Workspace
- Any existing DGUV high-voltage qualification advantageous, though not required

Working Environment
You will work in a modern workshop environment supporting an operational fleet of electric and autonomous vehicles.
The role combines hands-on vehicle maintenance, diagnostics, software updates, hardware retrofits and fault-finding, working alongside Master EV Technicians, operations teams and engineering specialists as you build your skills.
The role includes regular standing, lifting up to 25kg, working in confined spaces and occasional use of vehicle lifts. All required PPE and safety equipment will be provided. Reasonable accommodations can be made for qualified applicants with disabilities.
