WHAT YOU WILL DO:
The Event Production Technical Lead – Engineer is responsible for the technical operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous optimization of event production facilities, control rooms, and broadcast systems for an established multinational pharmaceutical and biotechnology company.
This role is responsible for:

Overseeing the technical health, operational readiness, and support of live event and broadcast production systems across multiple production environments.
- Leading troubleshooting, repair coordination, preventative maintenance, and escalation management for production technologies and infrastructure.
- Supporting the technical execution of onsite, hybrid, virtual, and broadcast-style events.

Partnering with client event teams and production staff to define and implement technical production strategies.

Mentoring technical team members while establishing operational standards, maintenance procedures, and engineering best practices.
DAY TO DAY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Technical Management
-
Support the technical operational needs for production environments by delivering high-quality video, audio, streaming, and presentation experiences for live, virtual, and hybrid events.
- Oversee the day-to-day technical support and operational readiness of control rooms, event spaces, broadcast systems, and production technologies.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for technical troubleshooting, equipment failures, and production system incidents.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and coordinate resolution of hardware, software, signal flow, networking, and streaming issues across production environments.
- Coordinate with internal engineering teams, vendors, and manufacturers to facilitate repairs, firmware updates, maintenance activities, and equipment replacements as required.
- Implement and maintain preventative maintenance programs, operational checklists, and technical readiness standards for all supported facilities and systems.
- Ensure all production systems, control room technologies, and event spaces remain operationally ready and compliant with defined standards and SLAs.
- Document technical procedures, troubleshooting workflows, system configurations, and best practices to ensure consistency across locations and teams.
- Track technical incidents, recurring equipment issues, maintenance activities, and operational trends while recommending continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide technical consultation regarding production workflows, system architecture, signal routing, and event technology strategies.
- Participate in post-event reviews and technical postmortems to identify root causes, operational risks, and opportunities for optimization.
- Support inventory management, lifecycle planning, and evaluation of new technologies, systems, and production solutions.
Technical Events

Support the setup, configuration, testing, and operation of production systems and control room equipment for live events and broadcasts.
- Configure and support signal routing, streaming workflows, encoding systems, audio/video transport, and remote contribution technologies.
- Support and troubleshoot production technologies including:
- video switchers and routing systems
- audio consoles and DSP systems
- graphics and playback systems
- streaming and encoding platforms
- lighting and control systems
- intercom and communications systems
- virtual meeting and webinar platforms
- Operate or support remote acquisition and contribution technologies for remote presenters, hybrid productions, and distributed events.
- Ensure successful integration between broadcast systems, enterprise collaboration platforms, and network infrastructure.
- Perform technical quality checks for audio, video, streaming, recording, and network performance prior to and during live productions.
- Provide live troubleshooting support during events to quickly identify and resolve technical issues with minimal operational disruption.
- Support redundancy, backup, and failover strategies for critical production systems and live broadcasts.
Team & Operational Collaboration

Mentor and support technical staff and production technicians through training, documentation, and knowledge sharing.
- Participate in scheduling and resource planning to ensure proper technical staffing coverage for productions and operational support.
- Collaborate with production managers, coordinators, and event teams to align technical requirements with event objectives.
- Participate in operational meetings, planning sessions, and technical reviews to ensure alignment on workflows, support needs, and production readiness.
- Assist with developing scalable technical standards and engineering practices across multiple production locations.

7+ years of experience in event production, broadcast engineering, audio/visual support, video production, live streaming, or related technical environments.

3+ years of experience supporting onsite, virtual, and hybrid live events.
- Strong experience in technical troubleshooting, broadcast engineering, and production systems support.
- Hands-on experience supporting and troubleshooting control room technologies including:

video switchers
- audio consoles

playback and graphics systems

streaming and encoding technologies
- Strong understanding of audio/video signal flow within digital broadcast and live production environments.
- Experience with LAN/WAN networking, managed switches, VLANs, QoS, and network-based production systems.
- Strong understanding of IP-based media workflows and transport of audio/video over managed networks in live production environments.
- Ability to troubleshoot network-related production issues including latency, packet loss, bandwidth constraints, and multicast/unicast distribution in time-sensitive event settings.
- Experience troubleshooting both traditional broadcast equipment and IT-based production infrastructure.
- Knowledge of streaming protocols and remote production technologies including RTMP, SRT, NDI, SIP, and WebRTC.
- Familiarity with enterprise collaboration and virtual event platforms including Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and similar technologies.
- Ability to work independently and manage technical priorities in fast-paced, high-pressure production environments.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to quickly identify root causes and implement solutions.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with a strong customer service mindset and white glove support approach.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail, documentation, and operational consistency.
- Consistent proactive preparation and timely communication across multiple teams and stakeholders.

Ability to analyze technical metrics, identify operational trends, and recommend process or system improvements.
Nice-to-have skills

Experience with production switchers and systems including Ross, Blackmagic, TriCaster, vMix, or equivalent platforms.
- Experience with audio systems including Yamaha consoles, Dante audio networks, Shure systems, and intercom technologies.
- Experience with streaming and encoding systems.
- Familiarity with KVM systems, production networking, and remote management technologies.
- Familiarity with post-production and editing software including Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro.

Knowledge of redundancy, failover, monitoring, and enterprise broadcast infrastructure design.
- College degree in broadcast engineering, video production, communications technology, or related field.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Travel is required based on requirements and location of productions and service needs including meetings at client offices and AVI-SPL offices.

Ability to lift/carry 50lbs.

Ability to climb ladders and perform overhead work.
