What to Expect
Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg marks a defining moment in Europe for Tesla’s mission of accelerating the world’s transition to sustainable energy. Here we will launch revolutionary products on a massive scale, using extraordinary speed, innovation and efficiency. Our employees will ensure that we achieve our goals, and we welcome you to help us write the next chapter of our success story.
The Tesla Gigafactory Berlin Factory Planning team is seeking an Associate Engineer, Manufacturing/Factory Intelligence to design, build, and deploy full-stack factory intelligence applications bridging operational data, engineering workflows, and factory systems — delivering production-grade tools used on the shopfloor and by engineering and management teams across multiple Tesla sites globally.
What You'll Do
Full-Stack Application Development
-
Design, develop, and maintain full-stack web applications (React, Node.js, JavaScript/HTML/CSS) serving IE, Process Engineering, and Manufacturing Operations
-
Implement mathematical optimization engines (linear programming, CP-SAT, Pareto multi-objective) for production planning, line balancing, and scheduling
-
Build RESTful APIs connecting frontend applications to factory data sources (SCADA, MFS, MES, Coalesce, Ignition)
-
Develop interactive 2D/3D factory visualization tools (DeckGL) for real-time digital twin and logistics visibility
CI/CD, Deployment & Infrastructure
-
Own the full application lifecycle — development, testing, deployment, and maintenance — following Tesla ARB and POC governance
-
Deploy and manage applications on Tesla VM infrastructure with production-grade uptime, security, and access control
-
Apply CI/CD practices (GitHub, versioning, automated testing) and work towards containerized delivery (Docker, Kubernetes/K8s)
-
Manage database setup, schema design, and migration (MySQL) for live factory applications
Manufacturing Systems & Data Integration
-
Develop working knowledge of Tesla factory systems: SCADA, Ignition, MFS, WARP, FLUX, FX, Coalesce, Fuze
-
Build SQL and Python data pipelines to extract, clean, and transform operational data (OEE, cycle times, equipment states, logistics)
-
Apply Industrial principles (MODAPTS, line balancing, takt time, JPH) to structure data models and solver constraints
Discrete-Event Simulation
-
Build and validate DES models (FlexSim) for production lines, material flow, and equipment utilization supporting CAPEX/OPEX decisions
-
Calibrate models with real-time data and deliver scenario analysis to manufacturing engineering teams
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
-
Lead IT ARB submissions and POC processes to secure infrastructure for new deployments
-
Engage factory teams across GFBB, GFTX, Lathrop, Houston, Fremont, and Austin to gather requirements and drive adoption
-
Communicate technical outputs clearly to shopfloor engineers, IE leads, and senior management
What You'll Bring-
Full-stack proficiency: React, Node.js, JavaScript, HTML/CSS; RESTful API design and backend development
-
SQL (MySQL) and Python — schema design, query optimization, data pipelines, optimization scripting
-
CI/CD practices, GitHub workflows; Docker/Kubernetes knowledge preferred
-
Familiarity with industrial systems: SCADA, Ignition, MES/MFS or equivalent
-
IE concepts: line balancing, takt time, MODAPTS, JPH, OEE, scheduling, material flow
-
Strong analytical skills — KPI dashboards, operational reporting, data visualization
-
DES simulation (FlexSim) a plus
-
BS/MS in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
-
1+ years in software development, data engineering, or manufacturing intelligence
-
Autonomous, able to manage multiple projects under pressure and deliver independently
-
Strong communication skills across all organizational levels; IT governance experience (ARB, POC) preferred
-
Fluent in English
