Tasks
This senior position is dedicated to research and teaching in the field of
international forest policy and land-use governance, with a focus on South America, and particularly at the intersection of forest policy and forest management. The successful candidate will build up and co-supervise a semi-autonomous research group in that field. The teaching load amounts to 10 semester hours per week. We are seeking an internationally oriented, experienced researcher with an excellent academic profile and a strong commitment to teaching. The successful candidate is also expected to acquire external research funding, contribute to joint research, develop independent research activities, and engage in interdisciplinary networks within the German and international scientific community.
The
requirements are:
- a completed degree (M.Sc. or comparable) in forestry / forest management / forest sciences
- a completed doctorate in the field of forest policy
- a competitive, independent research profile in the field of international forest policy and land-use governance, with a focus on South America, demonstrated by thematically relevant publications in reputed journals as first or last author,
- Thematically related teaching, including in forest management, as well as (co-)supervision experiences at BSc, MSc and PhD levels
- Experiences in the preparation and submission of third-party funding proposals
Additional assets:
- Experience in developing and leading groups in research and/or teaching
- Experience in the development, coordination and conduct of courses in the fields of forest policy, governance and forest management in English language
- Experiences within the German research funding and higher education systems.
- Expertise in qualitative as well as quantitative research methods.
- Strong written and spoken English and Spanish language skills.
- Experience working in international and interdisciplinary research networks and developing research collaborations.
- Experience contributing to academic self-administration, research coordination, and collaborative teaching activities.
